🎉 Join us in welcoming Tavyn Smith to the Fraternity and Sorority Life team at MSU! 💚🤍 Tavyn will be joining us as a Coordinator for Fraternity and Sorority Life on June 23, serving as the primary advisor to the Panhellenic Council (PC).

A two-time graduate of Ball State University, Tavyn holds a Master of Arts in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a concentration in Gifted and Talented Studies. She most recently served as the Graduate Assistant for Fraternity and Sorority Life at Ball State, where she advised both the Interfraternity Council (IFC) and National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC).

Tavyn is a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and brings with her a deep passion for leadership development, student engagement, and fostering inclusive communities.

When she’s not supporting students, Tavyn loves reading 📚, traveling ✈️, and spending time with her family — especially her adorable one-year-old nephew, Amari! 💙👶

We’re so excited for Tavyn to bring her energy and expertise to East Lansing — welcome to Michigan State! 🥳

December Faculty Spotlight I:
Dr. Robin Phelps-Ward is an Associate Dean of The Graduate School and Associate Professor of Higher Education at Ball State University.

"I remain inspired and hopeful for the field of higher education because of the meaningful work I've been able to do alongside brilliant graduate students at Ball State University and Clemson University through the Action Research Collective. Through photovoice and emancipatory research counterspaces, we've been able to amplify the voices of graduate students from historically minoritized backgrounds”.
