SF night out with the gorls 🫶🥰

We were celebrating a friend’s birthday in the city and decided to go for a night out in North Beach! There’s so many restaurants, bars, and nightlife in this area of the city and it’s all in walking distance which is convenient.

We started the night off at @acquolinasf for some Italian food, then went to @redwindowsf , one of my favorite spots to take people to get drinks in this area. I love their cocktails/mocktails and also highly recommend the Potatas Bravas!

After dinner and drinks we went to @monroesf for some dancing! I think the music is fun here so it definitely gets superrr crowded and hot/stuffy on a Friday night and the music is SO loud so I’d recommend bringing ear plugs. I forgot mjne and my ears were hurting after a bit 😅

After we left Monroe we were going to go home for the night, but then stopped by @bamboohutsfca and it was such a vibe here, there was better ventilation and the DJ was 🔥 and I actually really liked this spot haha

Six San Francisco tiki bars worth trading the happy hour for.

San Francisco invented its own tiki scene and never let go. From the Financial District to Nob Hill, North Beach to the Tenderloin and Duboce Triangle, the city packs more rum into one night out than anywhere else in the Bay Area. These six rooms do it right: volcano bowls that still erupt, a lagoon that rains indoors, a crashed airplane for a bar. Start in Hayes Valley and work across town.

Smuggler's Cove. 650 Gough St, San Francisco. The three-level rum cathedral on the edge of Hayes Valley, home to North America's largest rum selection with more than 1,400 bottles. Open daily 5 PM to 1:15 AM. IG @smugglerscovesf.

Pagan Idol. 375 Bush St, San Francisco. Step off a Financial District sidewalk into the belly of a wooden ship, then climb into the back room where a volcano erupts over the bar. Built for big groups and celebrations. Open Monday through Saturday. IG @paganidolsf.

Zombie Village. 441 Jones St, San Francisco. The Pagan Idol team's Tenderloin hideout with starry ceilings, thatched huts, and a signature Zombie poured in the dark. Intimate, moody, made for date night. Open Wednesday through Saturday from 5 PM. IG @thezombievillage.

Tonga Room and Hurricane Bar. 950 Mason St, San Francisco. The Fairmont Nob Hill legend pouring since 1945, with a lagoon pool, indoor rainstorms and thunder, and a live band floating on a barge. IG @tongaroom.

Bamboo Hut. 479 Broadway, San Francisco. North Beach tiki joint running since 1997, famous for flaming volcano bowls that land on fire at your table. IG @bamboohutsfca.

Last Rites. 718 14th St, San Francisco. Duboce Triangle's Polynesian noir den built around a crashed airplane fuselage, with more than 150 rums behind the bar. IG @lastritesbar.

That is six for a San Francisco tiki crawl: Smuggler's Cove, Pagan Idol, Zombie Village, Tonga Room, Bamboo Hut, and Last Rites. Rum flights, flaming bowls, indoor rain, volcano smoke, no plane ticket required. Which one are you starting on?

There’s only 2 more First Fridays left for me in the year!

What I love about what i’ve been playing lately has been that it really brings me back to my youth remembering how much effort it took to find music.

This past year, i’ve been trying to rediscover my music listening intentionality. Whether it going back to physical media to purposefully avoiding the algorithmic recommendations.

Anyways, SEE YOU FRIDAY!

My birthday night in San Francisco!
Everywhere we went in order:
1. Started off at our hotel rooftop bar Top of the Mark enjoyed some martinis, beautiful views at night
2. Went to check out Chotto Matte for the vibe. Had an espresso martini , sushi & chicken tinga tostadas , the restaurant is beautiful & the patio area was beautiful
3. Then met up with our friends for an upscale fancy dinner experience at RH Palm Court, the restaurant was absolutely stunning. We had espresso martinis, lemon drops, artichoke hearts, mashed potatoes, brocollini, Lobster Roll, gourmet thick fries, King Crab, Lobster Tail, everyone loved their meals
4. After dinner checked out the Lore Speakeasy cool red vibe with a magical back room. We didn’t do the Alice in Wonderland escape room but definitely will next time!
5. Took our friends to a fun Tiki Shipwreck Themed bar called Smugglers Cove, weve been before but enjoyed the atmosphere & drinks so wanted to take them there , they have a small downstairs area & small intimate upstairs area
6. We then checked out a speakeasy type bar called Deco Dance, the low light & red velvet chairs give a nice intimate speakeasy vibe
7. We stopped in Kozy Kar but didn’t have a drink as it was a little crowded but its a lively dive bar with bras & such hanging if you don’t mind smelly dive bars haha
8. Went to a cute Asian themed bar called Polkcha, cute little bar with cute vibes & the bartender bought me a birthday shot which was cool , good tasty drinks goid music/DJ playing
9. Hit up a cool 70’s style bar called Rick & Roxys, felt like we were in That 70’s show, then went into a separate disco room with disco dancing & LED light up floors, fun vibe!
10. Ended our night at the Bamboo Hut because we originally wanted to go to Temple Nightclub but the line was way too long for my old ass so we went next door to Bamboo Hut another Tiki themed bar which was fun cool vibe.
11. The next morning ate delicious breakfast at The Heist restaurant had breakfast burrito, potatoes with aioli & pancakes. Delicious.

Sometimes the universe redirects you and it turns out to be the best plan all along ✨

Tiki drinks at Bamboo Hut 🍹, then we rolled into Cobb’s to see Joanne McNally absolutely destroy. She was workshopping material for her upcoming Netflix special and we got a front row seat to it 👀 Great night.
