2 Days Till Our 16:26 Event at @bantof_soho We Look Back at Fashion Trends That Defined 2016

2016 was a defining year for the modern fashion cycle, sitting at the intersection of Tumblr culture, emerging luxury streetwear and the growing influence of music on style. Bomber jackets, oversized hoodies, longline T shirts, ripped denim and track pants became part of the everyday uniform, while athleisure pushed sportswear further into mainstream fashion. Chokers, fishnets, cropped tops, bralettes and statement sleeves shaped the womenswear landscape, creating a mix of nostalgia, rebellion and experimentation that felt distinctly mid 2010s.

At the same time, luxury fashion was beginning to absorb the visual language of street culture at an unprecedented pace. Gucci under Alessandro Michele embraced maximalism through bold prints, embroidery, loafers and eclectic layering, while Off White helped establish a new vocabulary of quotation marks, industrial graphics and deconstructed silhouettes. Yeezy, chunky sneakers, Chelsea boots, dad caps, denim jackets and military inspired pieces all contributed to a wardrobe where the boundaries between high fashion, sportswear and music culture became increasingly blurred. Looking back, 2016 was less about one singular aesthetic and more about a collision of references that continues to influence how we dress today.

That spirit is at the centre of 16:26, our event this Saturday at Banto Soho, where we are taking that 2016 energy back to the dance floor. The night is built around the music, fashion and cultural atmosphere of the year, moving through the sounds that defined that moment and the tracks that still carry the same feeling today. Expect a full night dedicated to 2016: the era, the energy and the memories attached to it.

Birds In The Trap 10 Years Later: The Album That Made Travis Scott A Global Superstar

In 2016, Travis Scott was still building the mythology that would eventually make him one of the defining artists of his generation. Rodeo had established his world. Yet he was still searching for the project that could take him from cult favourite to mainstream force. Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, released in September 2016, became that turning point. With a more streamlined sound and collaborations spanning Kendrick Lamar, Kid Cudi, The Weeknd, Young Thug and André 3000, Travis sharpened his ability to make music that could dominate both headphones and nightlife. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, giving him his first chart-topping album and signalling that his ambitions had moved far beyond the underground.

Songs such as “goosebumps,” “pick up the phone,” “through the late night” and “beibs in the trap” became defining records of the era, with “goosebumps” in particular developing a life far beyond its original release. The album helped establish the hazy, nocturnal aesthetic that would become synonymous with Travis Scott, while its production and feature choices reflected the increasingly fluid relationship between hip-hop, electronic textures, R&B and pop. Ten years on, Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight stands as a crucial document of the moment Travis crossed into another level of cultural relevance.

To celebrate the music, energy and culture of 2016, New Wave is bringing it back for a special all-night event in collaboration with Club RSVP. Expect a soundtrack built entirely around one of the most influential years of the decade, moving through the records that defined its clubs, streets and bedrooms, with Travis Scott’s Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight taking its place among the night’s essential selections. From “goosebumps” to the countless other records that made 2016 unforgettable, this is a night dedicated to reliving the year exactly as it sounded.
