Filling Each Others Cups - the name of our project and our actions. Artists being organisers, curators, leaders, and organisation leads being the artists. This was @nu.melissandre.varin proposition and we all had to rethink our positions and work out how to be useful to each other. Imann @banworkshop was being our gracious host and artist and then we all went 2 hours outside Dakar along the coast to Joal-Fadiouth to visit the incredible @portesetpassagesduretour to meet Muhsana Ali and Kan-Si. We learned about their journey and growth on the land and connection with local groups of women potters and many others, walked around their land were wowed by their buildings, adapted and build from the earth on the site. So many glorious details and plants growing out of the black earth. We talked poetry, making, bringing up families, living off the land, future ceramic workshops, things we need, things lost, things hoped for. We made plans together. Hopefully we all get to meet up again and work together later in the year to begin to fulfill the things we need. This set of pics starts and end with food and gathering, the start with Imann in Dakar and the end, breaking the fast with Muhsana and Kahn-Si. Thankyou for feeding all of us. 🙏✊🌞
