I had a very busy and exciting week last week! @vivemcc and I promoted @threetrailstaiko on KCTV5 for @kcjapanfestival. On the same day a preview of issue 40 of @quiltfolk magazine, my favorite quilting magazine and the issue I will be featured in, came out. Super stoked on crossing that off my quilting bucket list with that one! Big thank you to @powerconverterss for submitting the kind words to help me get in there!

Japan Festival was a success. We played a fun set, got to do a couple collaborations with @shogeki.sumo, enjoyed my dad and Aya's performance, and got to display my Japan Festival tshirt quilt along side some of my mom's kimono collection!

Time to zone in on healing the tendonitis in my wrist and get down on some family time and Halloween shenanigans!!!

Sometimes mending garments includes busting out the pliers, being assaulted by sharp, violent clothing, breaking needles on chains, and wondering if I'm up to date on my tetanus shots. Hell yeah.

Well it's been a couple weeks, but we went on a glorious action packed trip to California earlier this month! We woke up at 3 am, hopped on a plane and headed straight to the beach to meet up with @mlazzanaka and @plazzara for the afternoon. The next two days we rolled through Universal Studios and enjoyed some mega overstimulation and overpriced everything and had a blast.

On the last day in LA we enjoyed some horror delights at the @themysticmuseum then packed up and drove up to @yosemitenps for some MUCH NEEDED moutain views. The giant Sequoias blew my mind of course. We stayed a cute lil' cottage with a private pool in the mountain forest and had a great view of the stars at night 🤩

All of it was amazing and it was really great to explore new places with @baphometchiapet and the kids. It was too bad Chris was hurting, but we were so lucky we could find ways to do this that kept everyone comfortable and in good spirits. It'll be a trip to remember for sure.

Favorite quote "OH MY GOD, that pizza places is called What Up Dough. *sighs* I love California" - Maiya

We came back on the 11th, and the kids had their first day of school THE VERY NEXT DAY because I'm a really good mom 🫣.

No Master @ Studded Bird in April of 2010 for the Johnny Goulding Memorial show.

The passing of Johnny was another huge shock to the lansas city diy scene. He was hilarious; a true friendly weirdo to all who met him.

Anyway - this show was wild and a great catharsis for all who attended.

I miss you Johnny- you were a rad friend.

We said it on stage and we'll say it again, we would not be a band without @pentagram_the_band
We are overjoyed and totally honored to share that stage tonight. Hails to anyone that lent us coin or shared a kind word.

Up the Hammers!
See you soon

Our family is growing with the addition of Willow, our new ball python! I never thought I'd go through the trouble of being a snake owner, but it turns out being a snake lady is awesome as hell. The kids did a great job on their ball python research project before getting her and they signed a snake care oath they take very seriously. 🐍❤️🌿
