It meant a lot to debut the initial part of this installation at @berkeleyartcenter throughout the summer. I had no idea how it would be received, and I heard the most wonderful, insightful, remarkably consistent things from all of you—I’m so appreciative, and I couldn’t think of a better forum. This show’s been one of my favorites, thematically, and I’m lucky to have done it with friends, both from before and as a result of this one. Thanks to @jackieetal and @harbouretal for perceptive and heartfelt curation, and @giselanycoak and @marthe.bnt for making it a great experience. And a special thanks to @triciarainwaterart. @baqvas is one of four DJs playing at @townbarandlounge on Saturday and comes on at 6:30pm! DJ BAQVAS is a Pakistani (Afghan & Kashmiri-Punjabi) DJ and Bay Area local that loves throwing down punchy tracks, with an emphasis on South Asian and SWANA electronic music. BAQVAS has lit up stages and airwaves with sets for Public Works, El Rio, 7th West, Bar Shiru, Lower Grand Radio, BFF.fm, Bar Shiru, fundraisers for Kashmir and Palestine, and beyond. ~~~~ Suggested donation $10-25 or how every much you can give, but no one turned away for lack of funds. 100% of funds raised from donations at the door, drinks, and screen printing go directly to a farming community in Cuban to support food and energy sovereignty. Bring your friends and family and a bag or shirt for screen printing with art by local bay area artist @mah.lie.yuh

🇨🇺 Save the date for our next Summer of Solidarity event for Cuba on Saturday, July 25 from 5-10pm at Town Bar! 🔥 We have an incredible lineup of DJs, live screen printing (bring clothes you want printed on!), food outside and drinks at the bar. 💸 You can donate $10-25 to the QR code and screenshot it in advance or pay at the door. No one turned away for lack of funds. 🔆 As always, all funds raised are going towards our efforts to raise $40k for an agricultural community in Cuba to transition their energy source to solar for an irrigation factory that will also serve as an energy hub for the community, which will support their energy needs as the US government continues to restrict Cuban access to power and electricity.
