Join us tonite @taepsbar in Fredrikstad, Norway!! 🇳🇴

What an incredible welcome back to Norway last night. Thank you to Tor, Magnus, Bendik, & the whole crew at @bar_moskus for having us & to everyone who came out and filled this awesome venue with such awesome energy. 🙌🎶❤️

I played my first show ever in Norway eleven years ago at Moskus in Trondheim. And eleven years later it’s pretty cool to continue to return here and see people who have seen GGG & WHATO play here 2, 3, 4, or more times & to meet people who are seeing the band for the very first time. Trondheim will always have a big place in my heart.

Today we’re headed to Tæps in Fredrikstad, Norway. And some more dreams came true when we saw not one, but TWO moose on our drive. 🫎

Show tonite at 21:00, bring some friends, it’s gonna be a good one. We can’t wait to see you soon.

Yesterday evening’s hometown [?] record release show in Trondheim, Norway, captured by @thoregilphoto

I moved to Trondheim in January 2020. Fast forward six years, many rounds of chaos, creation, growth. In the present moment I found pure joy in sharing this project with the epic creative community up here at 63°N.

There’s a healthy dose of the far north in 𝘉𝘢𝘣𝘺 𝘎𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘵, the starkness and extremes, the precision, turbulence and beauty, the changes of light.

Thanks to @nymusikktrondheim @bar_moskus @iwontsignuphere to the many friends in attendance, and to @martin.ingebrigtsen for joining on the second set with excerpts of our new work ‘Treet drøymer om seg sjølv’

We’ve got a day off today as we make the drive up to hang out with our friend Stefan in Ljusdal, Sweden. 🇸🇪

We’ve got just two more shows happening in Sweden in this tour, but what an incredible run of shows this has been so far. Every show has truly been memorable.

There’s also an in depth interview with @greghallmusic & I that is out now in @musikpulsen. A big thank you to @lindahli_m for taking the time to talk with us about the band, about @springsteen, & about our new recordings. Be sure to check it out in the Musikpulsen website & Google Translate is a huge help if you need it translated into English or another language.

We can’t wait to see you this week at @holannalive in Ljusdal, SE on Oct 13th & at @hedningengastrobar in Vemdalen, SE on Oct 14th. (Ticket Link in Bio) 🎟️

And if you wanted to get a copy of our upcoming duo album “Forever Homesick” & didn’t get one at a show, there’s ONE store on earth right now that has it in stock: @hepcatstore in Lund, Sweden. 🙌🎶

We can’t wait to see you this week in Sweden & Norway. And you can catch the final Ward Hayden & Greg Hall Duo show of the year back in our home city of Boston, MA on Oct 24th at @denstock_highlife house concerts. There is limited space available, but if you want to take up some of that limited space just shoot Dennis (dennisrwhite617@gmail.com) a message and make your reservation. We’d love to see you there.

nyMusikk Trondheim inviterer til plateslippkonsert med Jordan Sand den 13.oktober!

This release concert celebrates Baby Ghost, the quietly captivating debut solo album from bassist, vocalist, and composer Jordan Sand. Developed during her six years in Trondheim and released this October via the Swiss label Hallow Ground, the work showcases Sand's distinctive style of solo performance, blending high female vocalises with the bowed harmonics of the double bass.

Recorded in single takes, freely improvised, and conceived as a series of scenes or tableaus, Baby Ghost is haunting and abstract, beholden to no preconceived structures but unflinching in its curiosity about the liminal, end-of-life state; that which one might call purgatory, or the Bardo. Drawing upon influences as varied as the bass-and-voice minimalism of Nat Baldwin, the radical free improvisation of Joëlle Léandre, the chamber jazz of Christian Wallumrød, and genre-defying artists such as Kate Bush and Arthur Russell, Sand merges forms with ease, suspended somewhere between song and improvisation, memory and dream.

Join us for an evening celebrating the release of Baby Ghost, featuring a cycle of improvisations drawn from the album’s sonic world.

Bio:

Jordan Sand weaves voice into the organ-like resonances of bowed double bass. Folk string playing and tinges of Nordic jazz collide with extended techniques and the experimental, reckless spirit of the underground. At once raw and beautiful, gritty and delicate, her performances have been described as “impressive” (New York Times) and “Joni Mitchell meets Ligeti” (Omaha Under the Radar).

Originally from New York, Sand has lived in ten cities and four countries, driven twice cross-continent in July, and plays on a Hungarian double bass of otherwise unknown origin. She holds a PhD from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and is currently based between Trondheim and Brussels.
