Who we are: Poets Playground is a generative poetry circle

Our leader: Tara Temprano, a certified instructor with 25 years of experience, runs Poets Playground utilizing mentor poems, and prompts that get that pen moving.

Status: We are the proud poetry division of the Golden Fleece Collective (501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization)

Mission and Purpose: Poets Playground aims to build an inclusive poetry community around writing, sharing, and offering useful, positive feedback to strengthen the craft of poetry. All types of poets are welcome. (Literary, Spoken Word, Lyrical, Performance)

Where and When: It takes place on the second and last Thursday of each month at Louis Bay II Library

What’s needed: notebook, be 18+, writing instrument

Susan captured me in a natural state of affairs here: Yes, a book. No, shoes.
Thanks to all who joined at our gathering last week in Emerson, N.J. at the exquisite new space, The Well House.
Appreciate Raquel’s welcoming spirit and inviting ways! Deep discussion, good food and prizes all showed up—cherished friends and new faces, too. These book events offer varied ways of sharing and connecting—this one was beyond cozy and loose. (There is something about a circle and sitting on the floor, right? Maybe channeling our six-year-old selves feels good for the soul once in a while.) The team @kttcworkshop offer ongoing support for all things (Angela, Pat and Bill you are great partners) and also have some cool new projects coming up (Painting Show/Exhibit/Reception @movecoldspring , Membership Program and new retreats in the works, too.)

A night of reflection, poetry and new Bordighera books! Thank you, Maria Lisella and Nicole Santalucia who featured last Thursday at IAWA’s monthly reading @calandra.institute. Fierce, delicate and raw pieces of their work were presented to our audience, yielding rave reviews. Our Open Mic readers shared powerful stories, some new and some brought out specifically for the evening, a way to honor personal history and memory. Activism, art and joy in Bay Ridge last Saturday at the May Day Celebration organized by the good people at Piace!
It was great to join my IAWA comrades, Barbara, Peter, Thomas, Cyn and Maria, to deliver some poetry and prose. (Shout-out, Cyn, for your hard work on this.) The fabulous lineup of presentations and performances and this gallery space, with its sweet backyard, made for a fine time—music, drinks, snacks, words, education and fun.
Thanks to all and really, Piace, you done good. Bravo!
