Where does the barber pole come from?
.
The origin of barbershops dates back to the bronze age. In those days, more than 3,500 years ago, sharp stones were used as a blade. The Egyptians modernized the methods, and sculptures found show that shaving the whole body was a regular ritual between the pharaohs and high society."

A couple of centuries later, during the Middle Ages, priests merged medicine with barbershop, since Pope Alexander III forbade clergy to continue practicing surgical operations.

But why did the barbershop merge with medicine?

This was due to the fact that the priests were the only ones trained to handle blades and scalps and when the practices were prohibited, these utensils were used for the terrifying bleeding, the extraction of molars, and of course, the cutting and care of the hair.

As society progressed, these places were intended only for the care of the hair and beard of the gentlemen. In addition to the large mirrors and high benches, there is an element that always comes to our mind when we think of a barbershop and is located outside the establishment, confirming that it is a peculiar pole with 3 colors, what is it?

Have you tried @havefun.coffee yet?! If you’ve had a cup of our brewed coffee while you wait for your cut, you’ve definitely had them, and did you know we sell it by the bag as well?? They’re roasted locally in Burnside with love and care for the farmers and producers who they purchase from. Next time you need a damn fine cup of coffee, grab some @havefun.coffee or check out their sibling cafe @cafe.goodluck in Dartmouth!

Hey folks, I have a bit of an announcement. After careful deliberation, I have decided that as of May 15th (the shops 5th anniversary) I will be increasing my personal prices by $5.00 on all services provided. Because I believe in total visibility of pricing, I will be emailing all of my regular clientele later this week to make sure everyone is aware of this decision. I know this is not ideal for anyone, so for the foreseeable future prices with my wonderful coworkers will be staying the same, and I can guarantee they will give you the same great haircut and experience you get from me! Thank you all so much for your trust, patience and loyal support over the last 5 years since opening Blue Collar. I honestly appreciate you all more than you know!!!!!
