🌺. 🌿 Nature knows how to care for us, too.

At Waves by Barberyn Resort in Sri Lanka, Ayurveda transforms wellness into a ritual of serenity. The aroma of freshly infused herbs perfumes the air as cool, silky medicinal plant masks glide over the face and body. Then, warm poultices made with natural ingredients envelop the muscles in a soft, comforting texture, slowly releasing tension and guiding us toward a deep sense of calm, far from the noise and closer to ourselves.

Here, ancient wisdom meets the subtle power of nature to offer us a moment of care, balance, and rest. Because sometimes, true luxury is not about having more, but about knowing when to pause. 🌺

The Rain Tree - a living sculpture by Laki Senanayake at the heart of Diyabubula.

Inspired by a Japanese musical piece, its form echoes the gentle sound of raindrops after a shower. As water gathers and falls softly from its branches, the sculpture comes alive - quiet, rhythmic, and ever-changing.

Set within the still pond, it stands as a beautiful meeting of art and
nature.🌿

A wellness retreat tends to be the holiday you promise yourself after a busy year, the one where the only plan is to rest and reset. If Sri Lanka is where you’d like to take it, since May tourists from 40 countries can get a 30-day visa free of charge, enough time for a two- or three-week stay.

At half of the retreats here, every stay starts with a doctor’s consultation and a treatment plan that runs over several days, so how long you stay shapes what you get out of it. We’ve noted how long a stay runs at each, in the hills, the countryside and on the coast.

A morning ritual begins with the simple beauty of freshly cut fruits. 🍃

At Diyabubula, every meal is part of the experience. Thoughtfully prepared to delight your senses, each dish nourishes not just the body, but the mind and soul.

Fresh, balanced, and rooted in nature, dining here is a quiet extension of the retreat itself - where every bite invites you to slow down, reconnect, and savour the moment.

Can you hear the flute 🪈 in the background?
🛕
This is a video from an archive, early 2024 where I stayed in the wonderful Ayurvedic @barberyn_resorts in Sri Lanka. Each night after sunset, a man was playing on his flute outside our temple at the centre of the resort, surrounded by wild medicinal plants.

And so, every night, I danced with the sound of the waves in the background and his flute, together with the birds.
Slowly healing and growing into my feminine part of myself that I didn't invest enough in the past, that I had for a long time been disconnected from, here, finally & truly listening to my body.
✨️

• I leave you with this mantra as I, at the same time, remind myself and practise not being so hard on myself all the time. 🕉
