Great ideas are just the beginning. As part of @nxtgen.design Barcelona, during @barcelonadesignweek , Juan Umbert represented Makeat as a jury member for the European Design Residency and as a speaker at the EDU Talks with “The Art of Validation. Why Every Great Idea Needs a Prototype.” Two different perspectives connected by the same belief: innovation isn’t about having a great idea, but about knowing how to challenge it, validate it and turn it into something real. At Makeat, we see knowledge sharing as an essential part of that process. Sharing experiences, exchanging perspectives and learning from emerging talent are also ways to keep pushing innovation forward. Thank you to Next Gen Design and Barcelona Design Week for creating spaces where design, talent and innovation come together.

The finished object is only half the story. Prototyping gives designers a way to test ideas, question assumptions and learn from what doesn’t work. It’s not simply about making an early version of a product. It’s about discovering what the idea needs to become. With PRO-TEST, Barcelona Design Week 2026 puts prototyping and testing at the centre of the conversation. Because good design isn’t always a straight line from idea to outcome.

#Orac #OracLove #EdanStudios #BarcelonaDesignWeek #BDW2026

🇵🇱 Polski design w Barcelonie! Wystawa „Z czułością” podczas Barcelona Design Week 2026 Już 22 października otwieramy w Barcelonie wystawę „Z czułością” (With Tenderness), przygotowaną przez Łódź Design Festival. W ramach Underground BDW pokażemy współczesne polskie wzornictwo, które czerpie inspirację z tradycji rzemieślniczych, regionalnych wzorów i lokalnego dziedzictwa. Co łączy ręcznie tkany kilim, porcelanę inspirowaną brutalizmem, lampę wydrukowaną w 3D i nową umywalkę marki RAVON z ornamentem opoczyńskim? Czułość wobec materiału, tradycji i procesu tworzenia. Wystawa wpisuje się w tegoroczne hasło Barcelona Design Week: PRO-TEST: Prototyping and Testing.

'When the sun hits the stone at sunrise or sunset, the whole city takes on that golden-hour glow.' Our showroom account manager, Bianca Audieri, takes us through the details you can see in Barcelona. She shares her favourite places to visit, why the city's natural, earthy tones never get old, and how easy it is to escape to the mountains. With Barcelona Design Week in full swing, it's a good time to see the city through the eyes of the people who live and create here. Barcelona is also home to one of our showrooms, so do stop by and say hello to Bianca if you're in town. Find us at Carrer de Còrsega 307, L'Eixample, 08008 Barcelona. @barcelonadesignweek
