TBT to this final installation piece from my fall of 2024 class with #judypfaff . Man, she was right, it’s hard to go back to painting after you get a taste of installation! I WANT TO DO IT ALL is my predicament . I have the opportunity to do a site specific piece in a few week’s time in Tivoli NY, village dear to my heart. What will it look like- that’s a great question and a greater adventure. How will I manage to connect the dots of my life experience in my practice- Im addressing a lot of things in this piece; colonialism, conservation, the detritus of “progress” there is a little Kipling thrown in there. Yes probably too many at once but isnt that what school is about! i’ll keep you posted

I am the teacher and the pupil. Taking the advice I give to others and applying it to myself is necessary for growth. A pedagogy that never questions itself isn’t operating in the spirit of growth and learning. Instead of following through as I “planned”- going against the grain and “ do something else “ 👁️ New! Todays ceramic booty🐱 #ninabkeramiek @nina_bovasso_studio support local artists! Support artists being displaced by systemic failures of justice. Right in your backyard! Right under your nose! Fight for them to be able to keep making art while they fight the landlords who have other plans for their homes! Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere! I’m more then a talking point! Artists leaving nyc? Are you so surprised? ! #contemporaryclay #livingwithart #ninabovasso #nycartist

I found behind my couch this blue lady painting I started maybe years ago. Just a blue lady. I gave her the flaming red hair. I wish I had the before and after I decided not to confine her in a payne’s gray border and instead let the red flame hair flow out of the frame behind her. The flames are behind her. They surround her but they move with her, they move her forward and they surround her but do not confine her. I do no wish to further articulation her rendering as slightly left undone implies a mutability, which is exactly what it needs to be. I am offering to do crits with artists & art students who want some feedback. I applied for so many jobs and it’s really a shame no one hired me. PM me to sign up. 🔥💦 #selfportrait #contemporarypainting #fireandwater #livingwithart #ninabovasso @nina_bovasso_studio

This piece is my body which I molded from clay and charred in the flame, and I sponged away the ash to see what had stained underneath.
