Accelerate!

Put the pedal to the metal 💨

An example of a series using resistance, assistance and dynamic loads to enhance qualities for acceleration.

1) Waterbag lunge exchange: React and control dynamic load with explosive limb exchange.

2) Seated single leg broad: Train the nervous system to produce a lot of force fast and project horizontally.

3) Resisted prime time: Great for posterior chain elasticity and dynamic hip extension.

4) Tension release: Transition from a heavy loaded march to an explosive unloaded bound and sprint. Smooth relaxed transitions between the phases are key to success.

5) Incline sprint: Becoming a favorite tool for limb velocity and body positioning.

6) Assisted drop in: Exposure to high speed movement on the ground. We like to use these a lot with coordinated athletes to challenge body positioning and to promote a faster limb exchange.

7) Fly: Chase an object or simply just sprint to connect the dots.

Acceleration💨

Resist, assist, react, chase and time.

Use constraints and simple cues to help drive specific adaptations.

Begin in stationary or dynamic positions and hit the gas.

Include directional variability to connect the dots between training and game day.

Exercises:

1) Serpentine bound to sprint.

2) Seated assisted.

3) Timed (1 yard drop) reactive lateral half kneel.

4) Resisted drop in.

5) Curved noodle grab race.

6) Hip flip Chase.

Options are limitless.

Let’s learn, work and grow together!
