Under Control is available now on @bandcamp !

This was the first song I ever wrote back in May 2023 and it’s seen a few different arrangements since then. This recorded version is acoustic and vocals forward which has always been my Moms favourite. It will be available everywhere on August 27th.

Listen on @bandcamp and presave on @spotify , links in bio.

This song depicts a time in my life where I wanted to get a grip on my substance use and mental health and I had optimism to reach that despite going through a difficult time at the time of writing.

Happy to say I am 100 days sober as of writing this.

I have so many fond memories of the On Wed. We Wear Pink queer and femme mic (RIP) I used to coproduce at Bar Orwell as well as the other super duper queer shows I was on there. BUT landlords fucked it up (as is customary).

Physical space that is queer friendly is SO important and SO rare - I can't wait to see what the amazing folx behind Bar Orwell do next, and am stoked for the fundr@iser at Baby G ( @thebabygtoronto ) tomorrow (Sun June 9)! Doors at 7.

If you can't make the fundr@iser, throw their G0FundMe a coin or two if you can - l*nk is in their b*o. Even if you never had the chance to go to the physical space, do it just to spite landlords 😈

I had hoped to write an article about the fundraising shows being organized for @barorwell , in the wake of the venue’s eviction. Unfortunately the publication’s freelance budget couldn’t accommodate it at this time but I wanted to share the statements I got from the organizers- local musicians that can’t stand to see the loss of another cherished venue. @deniseisaband is hosting a show this Sunday @thebabygtoronto & @thehardchives is TBD ❤️ Gofund me link can be found in Bar Orwell’s bio!

Next month, the live music community in Toronto is calling for your help to save Bar Orwell!

As of last month, @barorwell were forced to close their doors and cease operations following a situation with their landlord. It feels like every month we see more and more creative spaces in Toronto close down, so we urge everyone seeing this to go support @barorwell in hopes of bringing them back 🙏🏻

More details are available over on @barorwell ‘s page!

A Toronto DIY venue needs help!

Bar Orwell has been having issues with their landlord which has now escalated to multiple interferences to live music acts. Please read more about this on their page: @barorwell

Bar Orwell is looking to move and needs help to do so, check out the link to see how you can help out Toronto DIY. https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-bar-orwell-start-our-new-chapter

This DIY, independent space has been close to our hearts at EQL, as a independently-run music media site ourselves.

We… as in you… us, and the independent music scene in general, NEED welcoming and open places like Bar Orwell to survive.

Thank you Bar Orwell, for being so welcoming to our crew, and the artists you host. Good luck! Angel Apricot Preforming at Bar Orwell
