POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Vault Collection I Barrett Green
This is the prequel.

Barrett Green is one of those names. I still name-drop him. On purpose.

Suncoast. Riviera Beach, Florida. State-championship wrestler. Own swag. Own words. Charming. Different. People laughed. He didn’t need the co-sign. Walked to his own drum. The gentle captain — until the switch.

Off the field, laid back. On the field another gear. His switch goes on and he forgets pain. Ribs. Shoulder. Back out between plays. A beast. One hell of a football player.

I called him during Detroit Lions camp just to shout him out. He answered. Then: “I’m in camp, dog.” Locked in. I didn’t call for a while after that. Respect.

The tape is also the résumé.

1997 WVU: starting SS. 71 tackles. 4 INTs. 143 return yards. Pick-six. 83-yard INT return vs. Rutgers — Mountaineer Field history. 1998: weak-side LB. 155 tackles. 107 solo — school record. First-team All-Big East. 2000 NFL Draft: Detroit Lions, 2nd round, 50th overall. Then the Giants. Same downhill violence.

We didn’t market ourselves right back then. So this is the reintroduction. New Recruit Media back to WVU football. These are the faces. This is the brotherhood. This is the promise to clients now: the best possible image. The story told correctly. Flowers while the circle is still in front of us.

That window feels like forever — until you see each other and the conversation never stopped. It just paused. Guys will watch this tonight and reminisce. This is only the start.

Every morning is the youngest we’ll ever be. Give the flowers.

Enjoy the mixtape.

Barrett Green. Vault Collection. Forever one of us.

WVU FOOTBALL 1998
“Preparation for Camp” The Law Hill work
Coach Nehlan era

Football camp ain’t no joke.

Hotel lockdown. Film every day. No cell phones. No social media. No ladies except the trainers. Just you, the fellas, and the grind.
Coaches ain’t playing. If you don’t learn that playbook cold, they’ll put you in the most embarrassing moment of your life in front of the whole team. These coaches didn’t care about your mental health. You were being trained to react. Play through every ounce of pain.
Dangerous tackling drills because you are tackling the top 1percent of humans. Insane athletes with unbelievable speed. Tough-ass kids who already looked like grown men at 18. South Florida boys bringing that different energy. Fights. Everybody sore as hell. Strength coaches turning you into a machine.
Some guys broke. The ones who stayed found out exactly who they were.
That 1998 WVU squad lived it. Different times. Real headbusters.
The craziest part? How much you miss the moments with the fellas. Looking at these old photos brings it all right back.
Funny question though… how many of those same guys actually want their own sons to play football?
Wouldn’t trade it. But nobody’s out here missing three-a-days.

Where were you 30 years ago when the biggest Snowstorm hit. across the North East?
I remember living by Mountaineers stadium (WVU) and cars was hitting each other down the hill like something out of a movie. We didn’t go to class for a week.
The Blizzard of ‘96, 30 years go this week, was widely regarded at the time for being the greatest amount of snow seen by the largest concentration of population in the United States. This storm dumped hefty amounts in the Ohio Valley and along the entire I-95 NE corridor.

Rest in Power to one of our WVU Legends, Garrett Ford Sr., Mountaineer football’s first 1,000-yard rusher in 1966, passed away Sunday night in Charlotte, North Carolina, Ford’s son, Garrett Jr., confirmed today. He is considered one of the school’s all-time great running backs and was part of the initial wave of Black football players to attend West Virginia University in the mid-1960s when integration was taking over major college football.
When Ford arrived at WVU in 1964, there were fewer than 20 Black students on campus. He was well versed in the racial tensions in the country at the time and was apprehensive about attending a school with so few Black students. His son, Garrett Jr., played four years for West Virginia and rushed for a career-high 756 yards with six touchdowns as a freshman on the Mountaineers’ 1989 Gator Bowl team. His daughter, Tracie, briefly ran track for West Virginia, and her son Bryce was an outstanding four-year performer who finished his career in 2022 with 143 career receptions for 1,867 yards and 15 touchdowns, making it three generations of Fords at WVU. Garrett and wife, Thelma, were living in a retirement community in Florida before they recently relocated to the Charlotte area to be near their children and five grandchildren, according to Garrett Jr. Ford, 80, was inducted into the West Virginia University Sports Hall of Fame in 1995 and the School of Physical Education Hall of Fame in 2004.

It was absolutely incredible sharing my 46th birthday with my amazing @thejackbrewerfoundation Board of Directors, family and my dearest friends. God has blessed me so much to be able to do His will and I give Him all the glory, honor and praise. Thank you @offthehookyachts for sponsoring my birthday celebration. The birthday wishes have been overwhelming and I am sorry if I didn’t get a chance to thank each and every one of you personally, forgive me. This season I am faithful and remain steadfast in the work God has called me to do. I most importantly thank everyone for your prayers. — Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16

Thank you Barrett Green and The Taylor Made Futbol Initiative 💚💛⚽️🙏🏾 It was great to be amongst the youth interested in soccer. My daughters and I had a blast. It was hot today but truly worth attending this training and development session by Perlo. Not to mention a mini reunion with former Suncoast High School classmates making an impact in the community and abroad!

The Taylor Made Futbol Initiative (TMFI) was established to bring high-quality soccer training and technical expertise to underprivileged inner cities in the Southeast United States. Founded by Barrett Green, a former NFL Linebacker who wanted a different lifestyle for his son, TMFI was created in honor of one of his best friends, Sean Taylor, who tragically lost his life defending his family against a home invasion. Barrett brings lessons learned from professional sports, and exposure to the highest levels of youth soccer, to inner cities in the U.S.
