Intubation lab 🫁

Today we got to do so much in lab!! We listened to lung sounds, measured our own PFT’s, and intubated an infant, toddler, and adult!

Phlebotomy lab today 🩸💉

We also did ABI Doppler tests today which was my fav part of todays lab 😌 finding the pulse on the Doppler and actually hearing the blood flow was so cool 🤩

1st week of semester 2 in PA school is complete & we’ve hit the ground running! 📚

My favorite class of this semester so far is med pathophysiology! It’s so fun getting into diseases and understanding how to come to the right diagnoses! 🧩 We started off learning all things heme/oncology! 🩸

Wearing the I 🫀 PA tee from @joseph_the_pa of course, because US News & World Report has officially named the PA Profession #2 Best Healthcare Jobs for 2025!🎉 but that’s no surprise✨ @aapaorg

Interview season is HERE!!! 🥼🩺👨‍🏫

I had 4 interviews, including these styles:
• MMI
• 1 on 1
• 2 on 1
• group interview
• essay response

& here are 10 things that I did to ace my interviews! 🎉

1) Read @thepaplatform ‘s interview guide. This book helped me get an understanding of what to expect from each style of interview!

2) Create a GoogleDoc of sample questions!

3) Write down any stories that could be used as responses, so that you can edit your transitions & practice sharing your stories in a concise way. Use words that you SAY not that you WRITE. (While walking my dog, I would do voice-to-text on my phone’s notes app & practice my responses)

4) Use the STAR method! This literally works for every. single. interview. style.

5) Practice your stories out loud using only bullet points. Do NOT read off the script.. you will sound like a robot.

6) Record yourself with AND without video. Sound only will allow you to identify any filler words, unintentional tones, or subliminal insecurities, while video will reveal any unwanted habits, like fidgeting, swaying, or avoiding eye contact.

7) Schedule mock interviews! I would recommend at least 1 mock interview with a mentor/someone you are comfortable with before spending your money on a professional service. My 1st mock interview was WAY more difficult than I expected, so I was glad I could get my nerves out with someone I know. Also, schedule 2 mock interviews with the same person, so they can give you feedback after the 1st one, & see how you improve on the 2nd! I spaced these two about 2 weeks apart.

8) If you don’t know how to answer a question, pause. Take a deep breath & do NOT start rambling. Ask yourself, why are they asking me this?

9) Especially for MMI: sometimes, there’s no “right” answer. Just be decisive and have a thoughtful reason.

10) During group interviews, don’t be afraid to play devil’s advocate!

‼️Pro tip: The #1 worst thing you can do is be afraid to show your personality! Be YOU & get ready to be vulnerable & honest with your interviewers! 🫣

🎉 Happy PA Week to all of the PA-Cs , PA students, and pre-PAs out there! 🥼🩺 It feels absolutely WILD to be celebrating this special week as a PA-S1 !!! 🥹

Being part of this close-knit community is truly something special. The PA profession is all about empowering others and giving back…not only to our patients, but also to the pre-PAs following in our footsteps! I wouldn’t be where I am today without my amazing PA mentors who inspired me to choose this career & encouraged me throughout my journey. To all of you, THANK YOU!😍🫶😭
