Spring is in full swing, the days are getting longer, the wine is flowing and we’ve got a cracking line-up of live music to keep the good times rolling at Folk!

@hugo_veldsman , @gustavfranzsen & friends are back every Friday from 6pm, bringing their signature groove to our evenings in St James.

Our fourth annual Vino Pizza Festival is almost here, and we’re pulling out all the stops!

🍷 10 incredible wines from some of our favourite wineries
🍕 10 artisanal pizzas, each paired with a wine

What a year this has been, i couldn't be more happy with my results.

Winning juniors in my first year is a dream come true, i couldn't have done it without the support from my friends and family who helped me stay focused through it all

Also a huge shout to the @capetownbodyboarding committee for hosting the best sa champs yet, may the fish man stay in its home waters until next year.

The curse has been broken

I started competing in the Pro division in 2021 and my goal has always been to just make a Pro final, for 4 years I came so close to achieving my goal but fell short everytime and just couldn’t make it past semifinals. Maybe I wasn’t hungry enough?

2026 that all changed, lost my job at the beginning of the year and shifted all my focus to my passion which is bodyboarding. Found myself free surfing a lot more than previous years and had more time to focus on what I wanted and that was a SA Pro title.

A lot of mission pulled this year, hitting the Garden Route for a couple weeks then catching flights to KZN for winter, driving up the west coast for day missions, surfing with world champs, the list goes on.

All of this shaped me for what was to come at SA Champs 2026, I went in with a mindset that I’m going to win this competition and that’s what I achieved. I won the Pro South African Bodyboarding title and won the SABA circuit trophy for Pro.

To my CTBA committee and family, we killed that shi!!!

A great live performance is about more than simply playing a song. It's about making it your own. ✨

For this 50th birthday celebration at a private residence, Bart Larter performed Drinking In LA by Bran Van 3000, a fitting choice for a client whose musical tastes were rooted in that era.

Using vocal effects to recreate the song’s distinctive lead melody, Bart built the track live with layered loops, guitar and vocals in real time. The result was a performance that felt both familiar and completely unique, capturing the spirit of the original while showcasing his creativity as a live musician.
