The rock was hot, the skin thin, and the V3s humbling, but how good it is to take all the hours stuck under LEDs and replace just a few of them with time under the sun. There’s nothing quite like seeing where you are really at as a climber, with friends to cheer your attempts and bemoan your failures. Now we wait for cooler temps in Fall.

couple of scenes from a quick paparoa / pike 29 loop over the weekend.

not bad given it'd been planned the night before - we scored us some excellent weather along with some classic west coast hospitality. blackball, i'll be back for you soon!

Just a snippet of the past couple of months here at the shop and out in the hills. This winter has been one of fun that has just kept giving!! My desk is a mess (and so is my house 🤣) but the adventures and laughs have been great! Ps. I just heard @mtcheesemanskiarea is opening this weekend so maybe they will be in the next reel???

Sunset surfs are absolute soul food. It’s hard to comprehend being able to drive one hour to the edge of an extinct volcano to catch surprisingly good (for about 20 minutes) swell before driving back home to have dinner (before midnight!).

Last photo is of a better surfer than me from a year ago because I barely caught a single wave yesterday. New board, wiggly feet, general lack of ability. The perfect cocktail.

Where I live has always been closely related to what that place is close to. How much access do I have to the mountains or the sea? New Zealand takes this idea and transforms it into lifestyle. There is extreme access to any kind of terrain you can imagine, all within a short drive and climb. To get up, drive a couple hours, fill a day with the kind of climbing that feeds the soul, and be back home for dinner is crazy and invigorating. This home is as fulfilling a place to live as I’ve ever known.
