i’ve always been obsessed with 60s and 70s audio design, especially the old Braun systems by Dieter Rams. The clean shapes, minimal details and his whole philosophy of making things as simple and functional as possible are pretty much everything I love about mid-century design.

but I also love the complete opposite, those crazy space-age record players that look more like sculptures or something out of a sci-fi movie. From Braun’s minimal wall-mounted systems to the futuristic shapes of Weltron and other designs from that era, every piece has its own character. Honestly, I’d love to have a whole room filled with these one day.

You’ve seen this chair. But do you know why it has no back legs?

Mies van der Rohe introduced the MR10 in 1927 at the Weissenhof exhibition in Stuttgart. The cantilever chair itself wasn’t his invention, Mart Stam had explored the idea first, but Mies pushed it further, bending tubular steel into a flexible frame that could give slightly under the sitter’s weight. What looks almost impossibly simple was really an experiment in making steel behave like a spring.
Nearly a century later, that continuous curve remains one of modern furniture’s most recognizable silhouettes.
