You have to do the unseen work so when you are seen you have something to show for it.

While working on my signals Zoe wanted a turn. Amazing seeing what she’s picked up from me 😅. She likes blowing the whistle a lot more than she likes playing. Get her in the pipeline early 😭 .

More film breakdown, this time protecting the shooter. 4 unique scenarios with my thought process and explanation. It’s important to get the calls right in the moment but when you watch film it’s important to understand WHY you got the calls right. Any feedback or questions are welcome, let’s go!

3rd installment of Whistle & Soles. Got these pair of Giannis’ two years and they have been worth the investment. From being light, durable and comfortable these are well worth it for two game sets or mixing in during tournament play. The price point you can get these at also make them a no brainer.

Would you cop?

Expanding on the film series with three plays going at the rim. From post ups to drives to the basket, in breaking down my thought process, where my eyes are and my mechanics at the spot and at the table.

If you have any questions drop a comment or DM. Breaking your film or that of others can change everything for you in your development. Let’s get 1% better.

It’s not just about making the call. It’s about understanding why you’re making it.

In this breakdown, I’m walking through:
🏀 Cataloging the play
📐 Determining verticality
🗣️ My thought process behind issuing a technical foul to a coach

If you’re an official looking to challenge yourself and take your game to another level, put EOT Camp on your radar. I left with confidence that I can step into a high-level game, trust my preparation, and handle the moment.

Officiating during the live period, working games filled with D1-level talent, sharing the floor with great partners, and receiving feedback from incredible clinicians and court evaluators made this an experience I’ll carry with me for the rest of my year.

I was able to go through 7 hours of footage and process my playcalling, mechanics, positioning and communication. Can’t wait to breakdown film and share takeaways.

Sweet summertime hometown vibes with my mini bestie and her hot mom @whitney_monkam 🔥 and Rosenbergers❣️

Whenever I’m back in the ‘Ville the time together is too short but always sweet 🥲🥰 I missed linking up with my best dudes and their beautiful partners this time (😭), but seeing the carnival, parade, and Knoebel’s through our three-year-old’s eyes was magic 🤩 Very special 🥹

Zo drank her weight in lemonade 🍋, practiced communicating her boundaries (including on the carnival rides 💪🏽), and produced 100s of bubbles 🫧; I nearly lost my phone on the log flume, casually crossed paths & caught up with dairy industry pal Jake Spatz in the Knoebel’s pool and snack line, and had a long-overdue OIP sub which absolutely smacked 🙌🏽 , and spent the bulk of the time doing Whit and I’s favorite: cracking up 😆🥳

Time together also included listening to @ellalangleymusic 🎶, watching a bit of the FIFA Men’s World Cup before bed ⚽️, seeing a few middle and high school teachers (who look exactly the same!?😳😅👏🏽), Whit manifesting a quick summer thunderstorm ⛈️, and enjoying sleepover vibes (your girl LOVES a sleepover 😊🥰)

Grateful that - for the first time in too long - I was able to make it back for the festivities😍 Blessed, thankful, and nostalgic 🩵💙

Habit Stacking 📚📝

this summer, I have attended three camps and being able to get on the court and apply feedback through summer league has been amazing. The first thing I look at when I see these photos are that @steinersnaps went crazy (thank you again for these images. You have been doing your thing with @capitolhoopssl and it is a pleasure to be photographed by you) and secondly, I am critiquing the little things from poise/stances, to how crisp my reporting is and do I look like an athlete.

I have a tryout camp coming up soon that I am excited about. Fun fact I have tried out before and have been rejected, but I am excited to show the work that I’ve put in over the years to earn a spot on staff. Part of why I love officiating is the progress you can make in comparison to your peers and I feel confident in the work I have put in up to this point.

In love with the work.

Completed my 1st teaching camp this summer with @elevationot . Was blessed to meet so many great clinicians that were willing to pour into me and give me the confidence and understanding of the game to apply on the court. Also linked up with other amazing individuals with life experiences and stories I can learn from on and off the court that officiate also.

Understanding you have to reinvest in yourself on this journey is so important and camps like this are well worth it. 150+ colleges in attendance for the most D1 talent in a gym over the Live Period, it was humbling but the motivation I have to apply towards my next few camps is at an all time high. This camp solidifies for me wanting to be a professional referee, regardless of level (NFHS, NCAA or NBA) as there are stars at any level. Below are some of my favorite takeaways:

💎 Before you blow your whistle know the consequence

💎 Mentally you have to be ahead of the competition on the floor

💎 Call what everybody sees. Only call what you can explain.

💎 Treat officiating like a bank. Deposits vs Withdrawals.

💎 BUILD GOOD HABITS

With my teaching camp approaching, lately my focus has been on three controllables:

✔️ Winning the conversation in my head between possessions
✔️ Communicating with a calm, commanding presence
✔️ Moving with purpose and conviction to every reporting area

Taking advantage of every opportunity to prepare for my upcoming teaching camp. Small habits become big differences when evaluators are watching. Let’s Go!
