Getting My Pink Back: 19 Weeks Postpartum 💪🏽🌸

Episode 8 - My First Workout Class Postpartum

Nineteen weeks since giving birth and I finally made it back to my first fitness class...with my favorite little workout buddy!! 🥹💕

I’ve been moving my body at home since I was cleared post birth and at Pelvic Floor PT, but this was my first time stepping back into a group fitness class. And honestly? I was a little nervous.

This was a Muscle Mommies (mommy-and-me) Pilates class taught by my sweet IG friend @basicallybenita at @carriespilatesdallas, who helped me prep for birth during pregnancy as a physical therapist! How full circle!

The room had pregnant mamas, postpartum mamas, and the sweetest little babies. My little guy was the only one who stayed in the carrier the entire class, making my “weighted vest” a little more challenging 😂💪🏽. He spent most of class taking everything in before crashing out for a second and drifting off for a nap towards the end.

One thing I appreciated most was how encouraging the class felt. It wasn’t about pushing through pain or proving anything to anyone but yourself. It was about meeting our bodies where they are, offering modifications, celebrating movement, and remembering that strength looks different in every season!

Getting my pink back has never been about getting my old body back. It’s been about rebuilding a new one as well as my confidence, one new experience at a time.

Here’s to showing up, trying something new, and realizing you’re stronger than you think even with…especially with a baby strapped to your chest! 🤍

P.S. If you’ve been nervous about returning to movement postpartum, let this be your reminder that you don’t have to jump back in all at once. Start where you are. Your body has already done something incredible!!

Benita and Ramsha are breaking down why Carrie’s method and physical therapy go hand in hand, and it makes so much sense.

Both are orthopedic physical therapists, and the overlap between what they do in the clinic and what happens on the Transformer is real. Core foundation, strength, recovery. Same principles, different room.

✨ Part one of a series. Stay tuned.
