‘Tis the season… Le Getaway is upon us 🌲✨ Yes, that is me as a wee lad probably singing Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”

Backstory - Club Getaway has always been a big part of my life. My parents met there in 1987, my mom as a stylish NYC gal working in the office in the East Village and my dad a strapping English lad who came overseas one summer to work as a rock climbing instructor. It’s a tale as old as time at Club Getaway. Years later my family lived there while my mom continued to work there, and after we moved I continued to work summers. Starting with catching people on the zip line, to camp counselor, to founding a drum circle program (bass tone bass bass tone), to DJing on the Entertainment Crew. Bluto dubbed me “EL Luke - Connecticut’s #1 Latin DJ” when the inner city school kids asked me to play Spanish music I didn’t have. Suavemente on loop.

Fast forward to now, it’s my sixth year producing Le Getaway, and our second consecutive year selling out the weekend. Organizing an event can be… stressful, who knew?! But it’s always worth it to share the magic of this place with new people every year and folks who have made this weekend a tradition. It’s also full circle for lespecial through being a band 20 dang years. After all of our lespeshtivals to lespectacles, to still host an autumnal live music event where people can getaway and get weird together and revel in the merriment and mischief of the spooky season. It’s more important now than ever, I don’t know if you guys have seen what’s going on with the world.

Ok, that’s my pre-weekend rant! Thank you to everyone that has been a part of this event. From the always accommodating Club Getaway staff, our kick ass crew who is cooking up some very special things this weekend, the world class musicians and performers we have coming, and anyone who has supported in any way. We hope to see you next year! I’ll leave you with a timely quote, “I want to get away.” - Lenny Kravitz 🪄
