One of the great pleasures of this book has been the places and people it has brought me to. A sincere thank you to @collinsandgreenart for so generously opening your doors for a festive London breakfast and signing of The Layered Home, and to @bates.molly of @sba.pr for helping gather such a thoughtful group of friends, designers, and readers for the occasion. Thank you as well to @farrowandball and @octopus_books_ for helping make the morning so special.

It was a joy to spend time talking about layered interiors, treasured objects, and the homes that tell our stories. Grateful to everyone who came to celebrate and left me feeling even more excited about where this book will travel next.

Until next time, London. 📚✨🇬🇧🙏

Earlier this month, we celebrated the UK launch of #TheLayeredHome in London at the wonderfully welcoming home of cover star @butterwakefield.

An evening of old and new friends, generous conversation, candlelight, beautiful flowers, delicious food, and the sort of company that reminds you why the design world is, at its best, such a close-knit and endlessly curious and supportive community.

My heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us, to Butter for so generously opening her remarkable home, to my wonderful publishers @clarksonpotter @penguinrandomhouse in the US and @octopus_books in the UK for believing in this book from the very beginning, and to @thelacquercompany for the thoughtful gifts for our guests that made the evening all the more memorable, a celebration I’ll be thinking about for a long time.

Here’s to layered homes, lasting friendships, and many more parties in the garden. 🇬🇧📚✨

Spent the week styling @mondayswimwear’s new Soho store (now open!!) 🐚💛 The store has yummiest beachy vacation vibes, perfectly executed by @sugarhousedesign. Thank you to @_mandihayes for being the best creative collaborator, and @nickglimenakis for capturing it beautifully, as always. And special thanks to @les.collection for letting me pick out the chicest styling accessories to fill the shelves and tables 🫶

It’s official! This week kicked off the NYC launch of #TheLayeredHome 📚🎉 at the uber glamorous @brass_tuskbar, presented by @potterybarn. It’s a true privilege to have the opportunity to gather friends, family, colleagues and mentors all under one roof. After 2.5 years of scheming, shooting, writing and editing I’m thrilled to see the book in your hands, online and in book + home stores nationwide—we’ve already shockingly sold through half of our first printing and sold out the event. Thank YOU for all of your support to my incredibly enthusiastic @penguinrandomhouse + @clarksonpotter editor @angelinladams, genius writing partner @christina_poletto, my “photography husband” manufotomanu, my remarkable friend + publicist @bates.molly and to the inspiring talent who let us inside—appreciate you @james_coviello @gregdomres @schuylersamperton @coreygranttippin @sinantuncay and @seanmcnanney for joining us and for your gracious and enduring hospitality. I want to share a special thanks to @stellenevolandes and @elk_elisa for their unwavering endorsement + my dear friends and colleagues at @elledecor and @townandcountrymag for always rooting for me. Cheers! 🥂 #TheLayeredHome is available now, link in bio.

Having spent the past 15+ years (let’s not get too too clear on the math!) working for my favorite interior design magazines @marthastewart @archdigest @dominomag @traditionalhome @housebeautiful @verandamag @fredericmagazine and now with @elledecor I was keen to take a crack at creating something entirely on my own and showcasing a more lived-in, layered style I was craving. I immediately tallied up a list of my favorite designers, shop owners, artisans and antiques dealers that I knew lived a uniquely creative and layered life at home. Selfishly, I took the opportunity to peek behind the curtain myself, and really experience these exuberant spaces, to share with you. Pre-Orders are off the charts 🙏, thank you to those who have ordered already. All orders ship next week starting March 17! Still time to pre-order, link in bio. 📚 #TheLayeredHome Photography @manufotomanu Words @christina_poletto Video @jakedunderdalephoto

12 years ago?! Wow, pre art school, post undergrad, first time to truly explore my creativity as a little fairy in NYC. I started making up-cycled art, mainly for lack of funds for supplies. I started doing an old technique I learned as a child to dye coffee filters with markers. It became a therapeutic past time making hundreds of them. I was inspired by the annual Fiesta celebration in San Antonio, my 90s whimsy and secret yearnings to design clothes. This skirt was made with 300+ coffee filters, metal hangers, a skirt from goodwill and some safety pins. We had a fun little impromptu video shoot in Times Square that was certainly a bucket list moment💕✨(mind you, at the time you could not post videos to Instagram🤣)
…and a few moments showing that 2014 NYC energy😋

For all the “Before & After” lovers out there, this one’s for you! Made some updates to my bathroom with the help of @jennlvyy. @alyssaclough_ wrote all about it for @dominomag. Thanks for the feature!
