I thought Bath Abbey would be beautiful… I wasn’t expecting it to feel so peaceful. 🤍

There’s something about stepping inside that instantly slows everything down.

The soaring Gothic architecture, the intricate stained glass, the incredible craftsmanship and the quiet atmosphere make it feel like the city pauses for a moment.

Whether you’re interested in history, architecture or simply looking for somewhere to escape the crowds, Bath Abbey is well worth taking the time to explore.

One of my favourite parts of our weekend wasn’t rushing from attraction to attraction-it was taking a moment to simply stand still and appreciate places like this.

For me, that’s what travel is really about.

It was great to attend an autism show @uniofbath @bath_caar @uniofbath are doing a research into what can help autistic drivers along the way and one of their studies is studying whether Driving simulators can help autistic drivers and I know as an autistic provisional license driver that it can. I took a break from Driving for eight months and I didn’t make a single Driving test fail on my first drive after an 8 month break. I have a @logitechg like the one I love the fact that the @uniofbath are trying to help people and make people understand what autism can be about. I also had a lovely day going round the town of Bath with my mum. We had @tortillauk for lunch and I had fudge from the @fudgefactorybath as my pudding for later.

Unsere @Cappella.Lacensis befindet sich zur Zeit auf einer Konzertreise durch Wales und England. Zwei Konzerte wurden bereits gesungen beim renommierten @breconchoirfestival und, wie die Aufnahme hier, in der renommierten @bathabbey.

Wir wünschen unserer Cappella Lacensis weiterhin eine gute Reise.

‘Music, art, and beauty are means that help us look upward, moving toward God, and toward what is truly one of the finest aspects of the human person’. (Pope Leo XIV, 18 July 2026).

Housed within the North Transept of Bath Abbey is the magnificent ‘Klais Organ’, the eighth pipe organ to be installed at the Abbey since 1525[2].

Although the organ heard in the Abbey today is Victorian in origin, it was rebuilt and reconstructed by the German firm Orgelbau Klais of Bonn in 1997, hence its colloquial name. It boasts over 4,000 pipes, 63 speaking stops, four manuals and pedals, all encased within a splendid organ facade, which was originally designed by distinguished architect Sir Thomas Jackson in 1917[3] for an earlier instrument.

Whereas the Abbey’s organ was once located between the Nave and the Chancel, the present situation of the Klais Organ, within the North Transept, provides an optimal balance between liturgical function and sound projection[4]. In addition to drawing the eyes heavenward, the Abbey’s wonderful fan-vaulted ceiling enables sound to resonate efficiently throughout the sanctuary. Thus, no matter where one stands, one is enveloped by mellifluous music, surrounded by architectural beauty, and imbued with an essence of the divine.
