(Warning this caption is very long and very cringe)
I can’t describe the honor it’s been to be in the show. I don’t know how many people realize this, but I have wanted to play Annabeth in the lightning thief since I first got into the show freshman year; but at the time, I never thought I would be vocally capable of carrying myself through such a difficult show. Well here I am, and I’ve done it four times—once twice in a row after helping myself to cheesey pizza. I feel like I’ve grown so much as a performer these past four years and I am honestly so proud of myself. Sophomore year was when I really started applying myself seriously to theatre—taking vocal lessons, more dance classes, etc—and now look at me: I’m graduating high school to go to college and get a BFA in musical theatre program (I was considered “good enough” to get accepted into FIVE theatre programs!!!!). It honestly blows my mind. Of course, I can’t think about what comes next without reflecting on all the people I’ll have to say goodbye to. I said it all in my senior speech but to briefly reiterate: I love you guys so much and you are all amazing people. Remember to keep treating each other like you are all amazing people. We can do so much and be so amazing when we all work on uplifting each other ♥️
I have to say, Annabeth is going to be the hardest role to say goodbye to. It’s been crazy to bring to life a character I used to read about when I was a kid, and I feel like more than any of my other characters, a part of Annabeth is going to stay with me. Even playing her for this short amount of time, I really feel like she’s taught me something. “My Grand Plan” is definitely a song that is going to stick with me. Annabeth’s need to be seen and remembered is something I can really identify with, and just like her I’m determined to make the world notice me ;)
This is Annabeth Chase, signing off ♥️
