FULL SPRINT w/ DECEL
-
Building an athlete is a lot like building a car. If you want your car to perform well, you want high performance parts.

Building a 500HP engine is great, but what happens when that engine needs to make a sharp turn at full speed, or come to a dead stop?

Think of deceleration as your braking system. When you train your body to decelerate, you build eccentric strength so that your MUSCLES learn to absorb massive amounts of force, so your joints don’t have to.

Don’t ONLY train the gas pedal, build the brakes to match it.

One hour of work condensed into one minute. 🥎

Today’s catching session was focused on receiving and efficient transfers/exchanges, then applying those mechanics from different positions and pitch locations.

The progression:

🥎 Receiving warm-up
🥎 Receiving to transfer
🥎 Inside transition/exchange
🥎 One-knee transfer
🥎 LKD & RKD receiving
🥎 Outside-pitch receiving
🥎 Inside-pitch receiving

Receiving has to lead into an efficient transfer and my body positioning has to put me in a good position for the next movement. I’ve really been focusing on getting everything to work together while staying controlled and consistent.

Can’t wait to get to Tennessee for the PGF Super Select Southern Fall Championship with the Lady Dukes 2032!! 🔵⚫️

This week, I’ve been continuing to work on my receiving and framing mechanics, with an emphasis on how my body positioning changes depending on pitch location.

🎥 1: Low pitches across the plate — working on staying quiet, receiving the ball cleanly, and presenting the pitch consistently.

🎥 2: Low-inside pitches — focusing on getting my body into a better position to receive the pitch while keeping my movements controlled and efficient.

🎥 3: Low-outside pitches — working on positioning, receiving the ball through the zone, and presenting the pitch consistently.

I’m learning that it’s not just about how I move my glove—it’s about putting my entire body in the best position to receive each pitch.

The goal is to keep improving my technique, become more consistent from pitch to pitch, and helping my pitchers earn the edges of the zone.

Working every day.🔵⚫️

Right now, my focus is on becoming a more complete and consistent hitter—not just getting more swings.

I’ve been putting a lot of work into my swing mechanics, timing, and making consistent quality contact. Every training session is an opportunity to identify something I can improve, make the adjustment, and repeat it until it becomes part of my game.

I know playing softball at the highest level requires more than talent. It takes discipline, coachability, attention to detail, and being willing to work on the little things over and over again.

Thanks to my coaches and family for continually working with me and pushing me to be a better person and athlete. 🙏

Next opportunity:
PGF Super Select in Tennessee. 🔵⚫️
