Wanted Versatility & Got Just That ❤️

Being able to adjust our laser power settings, allows me to be as selective as I want when choosing my target. I can ablate soft tissue only but not the bone during surgery (granuloma removal) or I can choose to ablate bone only but not tooth structure (osteotomy). In this case, as soon as we accessed through the temporary crown we adjusted our laser settings to only remove the core and undress the post. In my experience, this is the toughest part: to “selectively” remove the core/cement utilized to cement the post in place. After that, well it was a piece of cake to get the post out.

From the Waterlase iPlus main menu we selected: Endo/Root Canal Therapy/Access (5 Watts, 20 Hz H, Air 80% Water 50%); Gold Handpiece + MZ6 14 mm tip. Core ablated, post undressed and then removed. Canals uncovered, chloroform used to remove prior GP. Apical access (AA) was achieved with a #14 .03, laser assisted endodontics (LAE) performed from the moment we accessed utilizing “Disinfection Mode” (in chamber only) followed by “Clean & Shape Mode” throughout the treatment (up to 1/2 inside the canals). We performed 2 passes of “Clean & Shape Mode” with distilled water (as far apically as we could with our RFT2-17mm tip) prior to drying the canals and completing the case. Case completed in 1 visit, single cone technique + BC Sealer HF. GP cone size extra fine for MB, ML & DL. GP cone MF was chosen for the DB.

We ❤️ our lasers. We ❤️ the fact that we use them in every single case.

Warning: Utilizing Passive Ultrasonic Techniques (PUT) after you have had experiences with lasers in disinfection mode might lead to SEVERE depression.
