Swung by @craftleeds to see the Winter Spotlight and was so pleased, but not surprised to see a fabulous selection of really high quality handmade work on display including that of your humble narrator.

Alongside the work of all the great makers in the Winter spotlight is that of @jrileyceramics @katyoneilceramics and @baxenburg and many others. Thanks to the whole team @craftleeds

If you are gifting this winter, or anytime for that matter. Gift handmade!

What a fabulous preview evening at @great_northern_events last night, as always.

It was wonderful to catch up with so many of our artists and I’m gutted we didn’t take photos of each and every one of them but it was so busy.

Here’s hoping they all have a fabulous weekend in sunny Manchester 🌞

Year 9 options PD day today.
In ceramics students were responding to the wonderful work of ceramic artist Lucy Baxendale @baxenburg
They all started with a thumb pot and these are just a small selection of their outcomes in just 30 minutes 👏👏
So who is choosing GCSE ceramics?

Artist Spotlight - 2/17

Lucy Baxendale - Light Up Sculpture

Lucy's work is a playful expression of alchemy — transforming clay through hand-building, surface glaze and fire into intricate sculptural worlds full of character and storytelling.

Her ceramic pieces often hold another transformation within them. Light, hidden inside the object, brings the work to life, illuminating details and revealing something unexpected beneath the surface.

We’re delighted to be showing a selection of Lucy’s work, including this wonderful piece, as part of our first exhibition, The Art of Alchemy, opening 2 October in Sheffield.

Thanks to all those who joined me last night for my 50th Birthday party, it was lovely to catch up with lots of people including makers I know now, people from Platform days, family and Arron from @racollaborations times. There was even Hawaiimisu 🤣

It was great to see @fayepj_artist and Chris who I missed getting a photo with.

As I've been reminded, I'm half a century old, arh! Crikey!
