Wedding reception 🥹

I never expected to find friends like this when I moved here let alone the kindest, funniest, smartest HUSBAND that exists. Some sappy shout-outs for my family and bridal party:

My mom and Aunts who flew all the way here: I've always known that I could rely on you, but this was way above and beyond. You guys got RIGHT to work. I'll never forget you showing up for me and pulling this wedding together in the home stretch. I love you guys and I am eternally grateful for you.

Sarah ❤️ There's no world in which I don't picture you by my side during these giant life events. You make everything easy, funny, and warm even in the most stressful times. I can't thank you enough for flying out here early to make it and for all of your hard work.

Gil ❤️ If there's one friend I know I can rely on regardless of distance it is YOU. Not only are you the life of the party but truly one of the people I hold closest to my heart. Your sweet soul and craftiness are unmatched. I'm so lucky and grateful to have you as one of my best friends.

Alyssa ❤️ speaking of life of the party I genuinely never want to attend another party without you. You have become one of my very best friends and are one of the most reliable and trusted presences in my life. Thank you for making me laugh in the most twisted circumstances and understanding me always.

Tian ❤️you've become the little sister I never had but always wanted. Genuinely not sure this wedding would've happened without your incredible dedication and organization. You are one of the smartest, most patient people I've ever met. I'm so grateful that I have the privilege of having you in my life.

Tanisha ❤️ my sister. Thank you for the stunning dress and jewelry. Thank you for your kindness, patience, and support even from afar. Thank you for accepting me so warmly into your family.

Farida❤ my MIL. You picked out such beautiful dresses and designs for all of our ceremonies and reception. You have been so kind and accepting since the day we met. Thank you for allowing me into your family.

UPDATE: adopted🎉

Tinkerbell is available for on-island adoption! She was an owner surrender to the mayor’s dog shelter.
Maybe loved at one point but now matted, freshly postpartum missing her puppies, and sporting a zip tie around her neck. Despite this, she still had the most loving and peppy personality!

With some TLC, grooming, and tick disease treatment, she’s made a full recovery. Tink is the best dog to have when you need a pick-me-up, her happiness is contagious as she dances all around, she’s always in the mood for cuddles and gives as many kisses as you’ll allow!

Tink is dog, cat, and people friendly. She’s fully vaccinated and spayed. Her only quirk being the potty training issues often ingrained in these small dogs by the use of puppy pads instead of outdoor potty areas. However, with a schedule or continued use of pads accidents are greatly minimized.

Please reach out if you’re interested in adopting Tink but please note: dogs with this fur type require CONSISTENT grooming to prevent matting, please do not inquire if you are unable to provide this care.

Healing and rebuilding takes time and courage. You have to face the things and see the patterns you blindly believe that lead you into those spaces and places. But healing and rebuilding are also beautiful. You learn how to love yourself again. You start to reclaim the parts of yourself that were lost or ignored. You revisit the places you once enjoyed to reclaim them for yourself without the pain and sadness that once accompanied you. And your soul, that was once beaten, battered, and splintered into a thousand pieces, can again be filled with the fullness of life. You will be whole once more.

That sweet fluffy baby who passed away at my house was one of many. The rest at the shelter all passed away or were put down. Except.. this little big eared bobtail guy.

Hopefully he pulls through. It isn’t really looking good.

If he does make it - he will need a home 🥹✈️

🐾 This is not OUR shelter. It is the govt shelter.

😭 We have no veterinarian on Saipan, even tho we are part of the U.S.

🩺 I’m at vet school ( @future.island.vet ) & can only do so much from 6,000 miles away

Sad story. Happy ending. At least for little Nori.

There are so many animals we simply cannot help on Saipan. Not enough Fosters, homes, resources. Literally we have 1-2 fosters and almost no adopters. People willing to pay to fly a dog they’ve never met across the world don’t exactly grow on trees.

But they’re out there ❤️🥹

for this little puppy.. she was one of the very very few lucky ones. From abandoned at the shelter to orphaned and starving to flying across the world.

Just look at her now ❤️😭

I’m still so shocked that the Mayor’s Office removed their crates from @saipanhumanesociety during a busy week-long spay/neuter clinic. Urgently. In the middle of the day. Requiring volunteers to move stressed and recovering dogs from their crates and scramble for new ones.

Thankfully, the community stepped up ❤️

Reflecting back on this, I have to ask myself.. WHY did they need those crates so urgently for inspection and maintenance?

They don’t even use them.

I had seen this puppy in pics and videos from my friend’s weekly visits to the shelter. There are so many puppies there right now.

Then I found out she was STILL there.
So I sent my husband a pic.

I posted this kitten for awareness. Just to share some of the faces entering our municipal shelter back home that has basically no resources. A shelter fighting an impossible population of strays on an island with no vet.

I got a lot of messages. But no. I don’t have the bandwidth to fundraise $2000 needed to fly this kitten, to coordinate adoption, to do all the things needed to save its life. I’m trying to pass vet school.. so I can help countless more animals.

But then @streetanimalrescuealliance messaged and said she would try to fundraise.

Hope this lil baby is still alive.

Crazy how the decisions about who we get to save are decided by the whims of the internet.

No, the cat cages aren’t full. They just don’t exist.

So they stay in a trap, waiting for euthanasia day. Oh how I wish I could help this little one.
