The guests all thought they were coming to a send-off party for the couple…

The story was that they were leaving the following morning for a destination wedding with just their immediate families. So everyone arrived ready to send them off with a big celebration.

Then, about 20 minutes into cocktail hour, they made a surprise announcement: “Surprise! We’re actually getting married TODAY.” Cue all the shocked faces and happy tears…and the realization that the ceremony space was outside waiting for them.

When Kalee and Wesley met with me for the first time and told me their idea, I was so excited to get to be a part of this surprise. Getting to capture everyone’s genuine reactions was my favorite part of the day. 🤍

And can we also talk about this beautiful historic venue? The Lincoln Event Space in Ottawa, Kansas is a former post office. This venue had so much character and gorgeous natural light. It was the perfect setting for their big day!

Here is a little sneak peek of their incredible day. ✨Happy 1 week anniversary to the newlyweds!

The best wedding days aren’t rushed — they’re felt 🤍🖤

The Nelsons understood that from the start. Saturday at @theguildkc felt just as good as it looked, filled with presence, intention, and space to actually live it. It’s the kind of day you don’t just document — you genuinely enjoy being part of.
