Blaze bright Black!

Here’s the great Elder BPP Emory Douglas minister of Culture speaking before Cuban dignitaries.

Did you know that the first place Emory came to when he was just five years old, that little Emory and his mom lived with his auntie in Alice Griffith Double Rock?

Stay tuned and remain creative.

Bayview Hunters-Point is a neighborhood defined by resilience.

With a deep history of activism, creativity, culture, and community but also of challenges that generations of residents have worked tirelessly to overcome. The conversation isn't just about where Bayview has been. It's about where it's going.

At the Ruth Williams Bayview Opera House, that work continues every day. Through music, dance, theater, youth programs, artist residencies, community dialogue, and cultural celebration, local artists and leaders are creating spaces where stories are shared, young people are empowered, and neighbors come together to imagine a stronger future.

This clip comes from PBS's Generations: California @ 250, a documentary exploring Bayview Hunters Point through the voices of three generations of residents. Their reflections remind us that preserving culture isn't about looking backward, it's about using our history to build what comes next.

The Ruth is proud to be part of that ongoing story.
