B. INGRID OLSON will be included in a group exhibition opening tomorrow @f_magazine in Houston, Texas. “RABBIT HOLE” features a new work by Olson, “Never odd or even (perhaps the bone I think I am biting is my own tail),” 2013-2020, which can be presented either vertically or horizontally.

We are so excited for B. Ingrid Olson’s two concurrent solo shows at the Carpenter Center in 2022. From i8’s @genevaviralam:

B. Ingrid Olson’s “Equant and Run, with cartilage,” 2017-2020.

In explaining the image-based portion of her practice, the artist explains, “the photographic works are sculptural in their activity, structure, and presence, capturing the performative sculpting of my body and space with handmade props or found objects that work to camouflage or conflate the figure with its surroundings.”

In summer of 2022, #BIngridOlson (@bbbingaaa) will have two concurrent solo exhibitions on different floors @ccva_harvard.

A love letter: Thinking of the Ryerson and Burnham Libraries today. It was my dream job, and I was lucky enough to work there from 2011-2016. It was my version of a masters degree, it was my home. I still miss the smell of the books, the stack 3 ghost, the 10:30 group breaks on the steps of south or north gardens, even the “I’m just looking” Lookers™️ that always picked up a book to flip through it without officially signing in. I miss doing inventory of books that the staff had checked out in their offices, the old way, manually scanning each and every one of each and every staff member’s books - and noting the various levels of care or lack there of (book marking with the heel of a stiletto, or the more common, but frowned upon post-it). I miss shelving in stack B. I miss the secret note in the elevator that I only discovered during my last week of working there. I miss sitting on book carts at the end of the day. I miss all of my former co-workers, my friends. I miss walking through the museum before it opened, all dark, at 9:05-9:10 three days a week. Seth, I’m sorry I only arrived properly “on time” maybe once or twice in all of my 5 years there. I miss the kismet of finding just the right book, just when I needed it. I always credited the ghost of Daniel Burnham for that. It is definitely in my top 3 places on earth, and I just wanted to remember these things today and send love to my library. And, I would tag Jack Brown here if I could.

#bingridolson to participate in ‘New Visions: Henie Onstad Triannial for Photography & New Media’ at @henieonstad, open from 21 February till 16 May
"The inaugural Triennial for Photography and New Media brings together recent work of 31 international artists. Several works are exhibited for the first time and the Triennial is the first major international presentation of its kind in Norway. The exhibition foregrounds practices that acknowledge the fluctuating and networked condition of contemporary photography and society more generally. It also articulates a keen sensitivity towards the history of photography and art. Abstraction, digital and manual collage, new configurations of still life and the human body are key tendencies. Produced within the scope of our digital culture, several of the works exemplifies the dissolution of the distinction between the still and moving image and the dimensional and material expansion of the image. The first edition of the Triennale is titled New Visions, referring to the movement developed by László Moholy-Nagy in the interwar period. In line with the Bauhaus pedagogy, Moholy-Nagy and his peers aimed to employ the qualities intrinsic to the medium in order to transform photography from a reproductive medium into a productive one. And just as photography a century ago was a tool for new perceptions and conceptions of an increasingly mechanized world, today artists frequently use the medium to explore our increasingly computational, information-saturated, and automated surrounds.”
