On Tuesday evening, I had the pleasure of attending the British Book Design & Production Awards @bbdpawards, where my book ‘Behind The Beans’ was shortlisted for Best Student Book 2025.

It was an incredible experience to be surrounded by some of the most beautifully designed and thoughtfully crafted books I’ve ever seen, a real reminder of how special the publishing industry is.

I feel very honoured to have had the opportunity to attend. Although my publication didn’t take home the award, I’m so proud to say my fellow UWE student, @wmlrhys_design did and it was so well deserved.

This is an industry I’m truly passionate about so here’s hoping that one day I’ll be back celebrating another book I’ve worked incredibly hard on ✨👏🏼

Having been nominated for the BBD&PA’s Best Student Book award for 2025, I was lucky enough to attend a fantastic event this week, showcasing some of the most beautiful, striking, and artistically genius books that i’ve ever had the privilege of seeing. This event was truly unforgettable for many reasons, but above all, the kindness and generosity that i witnessed and received amongst some of the UK’s best book makers, binders and designers stood out most. I’m thrilled to have won the award in my category, and am incredibly grateful to all involved. Onwards and upwards!!

Thank you @farshorebooks for inviting me to the British Book Design & Production Awards last night. What an inspiring wander through some stunning books. What a swanky do. So nice to be there as, well… me and awards… just doesn’t not never nohow happen!

Our pop-up version of THE LITTLE PRINCE got highly commended and I was SO happy for @tiffchildrensbooks_design. She somehow magicked my 2-d traditional picture book art into 3-d wondrousness. It was never intended to be 3-d, so to be shortlisted for this prestigious award is testament to Tiff’s extra-brilliance.

As usual, I was hopeless at gathering any footage - apart from a lovely pic of Tiff at the end of this carousel. But I’ve included here bits and bobs from the book: some 2-d detail and their 3-d transformations; and also a little snippet of the fiendish die-lines, which I tweaked, and with which I honed and fine-tuned the different pop layers. For 2 solid weeks. Over Christmas!🎄(A martyr to the cause 😉)

All great experiences though. Bravo to the Farshore team, and especially to Tiff. Thank you @bbdpawards for an exhilarating evening.
