This is why we love breaking and freestyle dance battles 😤. Unscripted, raw, uncut. We had a great day of battles - crews from the DMV, RVA, the Carolinas, and of course our local scene. Everything was going well, the crowd was feeling the vibes and giving good energy. DJ @micky.slicks was playing some fire breaks and MC @esoeric804 was keeping everyone hype. We finally make it to the final battle - @nocentss + @bboyroach1 vs @inmateowetrust__ + @dcezra These guys had been killing it all day and everyone was ready to see the finals kick off. MC @esoeric804 brings everyone off the bleachers and to the edge of the dance floor. He gets everyone hype with a suspense build and then @micky.slicks drops the beat. “Best bboy goes first!” says @esoeric804 . The rest is history. What a great kickoff to the final battle. Shoutout to both crews for leaving it all on the floor. Well deserved 1st and 2nd place prizes. Shoutout to our judges: Bgirl Genesis @genesis_bgirl Bboy Jasic @giantjayyy Bboy Zillah @zla_src We’ll see you at the next one ⚡️. ••• Make sure to follow @757breaks for more highlights plus - local practice spots - studio training - events PEACE. ⚡️ #Breaking #breakdance #freestyledance #dancecompetition

Heya. Mos from HELLVETICA HILL here. Play spaces and “sandbox” work are so important. There’s so much “have to” in design; trying to make space for some “want to” is just as pivotal. If the only time we’re trying something new is for the sake of a deadline, the new never sticks. So, I try to make some time to play about. Is it always fruitful? FUCK NO. Sometimes, it just reminds me that I still have a ton of shit to learn, and what I have learned still can be gotten better at. Still might be awful at it the next time I try it, but I’ll be that much more apt to try “that one thing” the next time. And the next time after that. And maybe the one after that. Maybe. ✌🏿
