Bayou Boiler is now in the books. I can’t thank everyone enough for making this happen. June marks my 22nd year breaking, and Bayou Boiler marks my first jam thrown. The jam exceeded all my expectations and I largely owe that to the support from staff, friends, family, and everyone who traveled near and far.

I wanted to create a jam to invite people to experience New Orleans, to cultivate the community at a local and national level, and to let everyone know that while competitive in nature, the freedom and joy that breaking encapsulates can still be preserved.

From articulating the significance of what it is we do, to hyping up the crowd, and to simply running the jam on time, AMS’s efficiency is second to none.

The backbone of the jam is the DJ, and I couldn’t be more pleased with Ruggz and Diz.Ko. Their transitions were seamless and they kept the party live and running from start to finish.

I’ve always been told it’s hard to have fun as the promoter since you’re too busy running things but I had plenty of fun knowing I didn’t have to make the tough calls I saw all night. My tough call was trusting Doper, Dang, and Rich to make those calls for me, and kudos to them!

Frenchmen St has always been my favorite street to roam in NOLA and after ending up at the Royal Frenchmen Hotel on countless nights out, dancing and vibing with friends, it clicked. If I ever threw an event, it had to be here. The ambience was unmatched and it fit my vision perfectly.

Countless hours were put into organizing this event but it would’ve been all for naught if the promotional work didn’t exist. A huge thanks to Roca for putting in work to produce the amazing graphics accompanying Bayou Boiler to help push it into the ether, and to Bi285 for support with video and photos.

Lastly, a big thanks to the people. To the random passerby’s to the old friends. To the direct family to the extended fam. To those who traveled thousands of miles to those who drove down the block. To those who couldn’t make it, but still supported how they can, to those who showed up and lent a helping hand. From the bottom of my heart, thank y’all, and I love y’all.
