Got a chance to journal in a 2000 yea old in the coliseum🤯🤯🤯

Most Admired CEO.

Man…this one means a lot.

I’ve never looked at being a CEO as just a title.

It comes with a responsibility — to your team, your customers, your family, your community, and everybody who believes in what you’re building.

We started She’s Happy Hair in 2012 with $900 and a vision. And 14 years later, I can tell you for sure, none of this happens by yourself.

It takes a team.

It takes people who believe in the vision.
People who challenge you.
People who hold you accountable.
People who work beside you when things are going great — and people who are still standing there when shit gets hard.

So to be recognized by the Houston Business Journal as a 2026 Most Admired CEO is an honor I’m extremely grateful for.

But this one ain’t just mine.

To my wife, my family, my She’s Happy Hair team, our customers, our community, my advisors, and everybody who has poured into me and helped us continue to build — thank you.

These 14 years have had some unbelievable highs and some extremely difficult seasons.

I’ve learned something about myself, business and leadership through every damn one of them.

I am who tha fuck I thought I was!

My She’s Happy Hair Team is the best fucking team that I can ask for!

We bout to run it right back up!!

That’s probably why this one hits a little different.

I’m proud of what we’ve built.

I watched this young man walk into Morehouse 4 years ago with potential…

And last weekend I watched him walk out with purpose.

Morehouse sharpened him & Built him.

Not just the degree.
Not just the graduation.

The growth.

Tears of joy were definitely shed this weekend.

Because as parents,…you pray for moments like this.

137 | Been in Atlanta for the weekend and boy it was one for the books.

We filmed @warrenbroadnax and @bbroadnax_’s boy @im3verett crossing the stage at @morehouse1867. Proud of you big dawg!!

I was glad to be in the room with him and @mdukessamuels for the 142nd commencement with 572 boys who left as men! Glad Dukes had some Houston love on The Hill with him!

I did camera and lens test for my feature film @neildearmancamera and got to catch up with come of ATL’s coldest @drewmitchelldop & @panaman_inc.

Got to rock with my boy @novmbr_2econds on sound for the weekend also.

Finally met with my new creative homie @studiochardae!

And closed out the weekend with a baptism of encouragement and confirmation as we navigate this media landscape with my good sis @bellatashe.

I can’t forget how warm I felt seeing my sister, my Olivia Pope/Shirley Chisholm, @simone_imannnni.

And what a thrill to bump into the GOAT @davebrownusa (we may be cooking something in Houston soon)!

More than all this, I’m grateful to my friends. My fam @89kings @chelsea_rae328 @aboveonlyfilms and @elishasumo for still holding down their big bro on every media/film/housing/transpo front these many years later.

Man…this one hit different.

Watching my oldest son Everett stand in front of a room full of students at Shadow Creek High School… calm, articulate, confident… talking about his experience at Morehouse College… that was one of them moments you don’t forget.

I remember dropping him off freshman year. Setting up his dorm room halfway put together, and just knowing he’d figure it out…

Now I’m watching him lead. Educate. Pour into other young men and women about what’s possible.

That’s a full circle moment.

He’s graduating in May… and I can honestly say, I’m proud of the man he’s becoming.

Not just what he’s accomplished—but how he carries himself.

Truth is… he make me want to be better.

That’s what it’s about.

Watching young women step into leadership, entrepreneurship, and confidence reminded me that this is mental health work too. When girls are taught their worth early, they grow into women who don’t have to chase validation later. 🧠✨ @johnte_archer your legacy in empowering young female leaders is undeniable.
