Hello,
Would you consider "The Rush for Black Diamonds," Vol. Two. a text for your class, school, college, church or your summer reading?
With an analysis of the German philosopher Immanuel Kant's assertion of White supremacy, his racism and racial insults against Black people, "The Rush for Black Diamonds,” Vol. 2 provides a narrative demonstrating a seamless mutation of concepts, ideologies and actions by the United States and the United Kingdom from chattel slavery to colonialism to penal slavery into the post 1970 era. It explores the legacies of the philosophical, economic, political and racial claims associated with why Europeans and the United States felt justified to enslave with impunity, reduce Black people to chattel property, consider Black humanity as inferior and second class, and promote the assertion that Black intellectual capacity is inferior and central to the emergence of concepts and practices of White Supremacy. Volumes 1&2 reference Frederick Douglass, W. E. B. Du Bois, Ida B. Wells and Martin Luther King, Jr. as interlocutors to de-construct the racial ideologies and white supremacy claims of John Locke, Thomas Jefferson, David Hume, Georg Hegel, and Immanuel Kant. “The Rush for Black Diamonds,” Vol. 2 concludes with a prescriptive call by asserting a "Holistic Penal Ethics. Thank you for your consideration.

In honor of the late Mary T. Kinnane, a professor renowned for her passion and significant contributions to the field of higher education, the Lynch School’s Educational Leadership and Higher Education department celebrates her work with an annual award, the Mary T. Kinnane Award. This award recognizes the outstanding achievement and excellence in academics, service, and character.

This year’s ceremony celebrates the accomplishments of all graduates from the Lynch School’s M.A., Ed.D., and Ph.D. programs in higher education, acknowledging their hard work and dedication to advancing the field.

Congratulations to Kayla Edwards, M.A. ’26, the recipient of this year’s Mary T. Kinnane Award for Excellence in Higher Education, and best of luck to all our Higher Education graduates!

Last night @earlycareercorner and I celebrated the final week of the @bc_elhe Field Experience course with sweet treats and laughs. In the meantime Week 4 of #SiteVisits stayed close to campus with drop ins at sites where students were engaging in #ResidentialPrograming #StudyAborad and #StudentConduct. Rounded out the week with Volunteering at the Polls on Tuesday and being a part of a @bostoncollege Human Resources workshop on supervising student employees on Wednesday. Great opportunity to bring the data and the details that I gained from the 24-25 site visits to help campus supervisors heighten their work! Busy week in and around the @bclynchschool !!

Hi Future (and current) Eagles! 👋 🦅

My name is Nolan Rehrig (he/him), and I’m so grateful to be part of the Boston College community. I am a second year in the M.A. in Higher Education program and serve as a Graduate Assistant in the Lynch School Graduate Admission & Financial Aid Office as well as at MIT’s Fraternities, Sororities, and Independent Living Groups Office. On top of that, I volunteer in professional associations and am part of the BC Cheerleading team!

From the events hosted by the GSA & GEA, to the ones hosted by the Higher Education Department and GSS, I am never bored! I’ve been challenged and supported here in ways that help me grow personally and professionally every day. Gasson is by far my favorite place on campus, but Tully’s Cafe is a close second.

Beyond academics, I love embracing the energy of Boston sports and BC Athletics. Choosing BC was one of the easiest decisions I’ve made, not just because of the program, but because of the people and experiences that make this campus feel like home.

If you ever want to connect or talk more about life at BC, don’t hesitate to reach out (rehrign@bc.edu). I’m always happy to chat and cheer you on in your own journey here!!
