You CANNOT POUR from an empty cup. Baby, filling my own cup BEFORE I head out into this WICKED WORLD and RELENTLESSLY serve our babies IS REQUIRED. #Nonnegotiable

Hopeful Voices happened. And it was everything we hoped it would be.
Saturday, a room in Columbia filled up with people willing to be honest out loud. Stories, dance, music, art on the walls, a shared meal, and real conversations about mental health that most people never get to have.
Thank you to Maryland State Delegate Terri Hill and Dr. Sabrie Wiggins-Rose for being in the room with us.
Thank you to the ten partner organizations who made this a community event and not just an event. And thank you to Gerardo, Tiffany, Meina, Tracey, Yang, Lan, Jocelyn, Tricia, Yan, and Laura Wilson — the people who built this with their hands.
Tagging everybody in the comments. If you were there and I missed you, drop your handle below so I can add you.
And thank you to every person who walked in, sat down, and listened. That was the whole point.
This is what Howard County can do when it decides to.
What’s your mental health?

Still processing the energy from last Saturday. ✨

People call things the “highlight of the summer” loosely, but honestly? Our very first festival pop-up at Baltimore County African American Cultural Festival in Towson really was. Taking Alchemize from a vision on paper into an open-air movement experience surrounded by this community
was surreal.

When you build spaces centered on strength and alignment, you hope people show up—but the frequency and buy-in from everyone last weekend exceeded every expectation.

We’re taking all this momentum and pouring it straight into what’s next. If you missed this one, make sure you’re on the list for the next drop.

Drop a ⚡️ below if you’re ready for the next pop-up.

Spent the weekend at the 30th Baltimore County African American Cultural Festival in Towson, and it was culture in its truest form. The music, the food, the art, the people. 🔥

Big thank you to Cynthia for showing me the lay of the land. 🙏🏾 and thank you to @dj5starr for believing in me.

Spoiler alert: if all goes well… there might be a new hokage in town next year. 👀🤠 Stay tuned.

There’s something special about seeing culture, community and connection all in one place. 🖤

The Baltimore County African American Cultural Festival created space to celebrate Black history, entrepreneurship, joy and the people who continue to move our communities forward.

Good food. Rich culture. Strong community. ✨
