There is a long history behind Pride Month, and most people inside and outside of the community don’t know that Pride Month is held to commemorate the Stonewall Riots in 1969, where transgender activists such as Marsha P.Johnson literally fought for the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community, that wouldn't even exist without the T that most gay people are forgetting way too often.

Without the bravery of our trans sisters at the riots, the progression of our rights may not have been where it is today as we celebrate PRIDE and not GAY PRIDE as people use to say. Words are important and while Pride Month does celebrate the progress the community has made, it also remembers and commemorates the tragedies.

The month mourns the people lost to hate crimes and HIV/AIDS as well. That's why this month is so important to remember those who have lost their lives for being truly and unapologetically who they were. So let's not forget why we celebrate this moment of the year, not only to express ourselves with fancy garments and clothes but as a right and freedom to continue to fight against LGBTphobia every day and remembering who paved the way for us. Also let's not being fooled by big corporations and companies who will use their fake and performative allyship, for their own benefits while they don't even care about our existence the rest of the year. Pink washing is just a way to capitalize on our community when our lives and rights are still at risk and in danger every day all over the world.

NEVER FORGET HOW IT STARTED !

PRIDE WOULDN'T EXIST WITHOUT TRANS WOMEN.. HAPPY PRIDE MONTH 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

Trans people are humans and deserve to be protected at all costs every day not only online but everywhere. The way this society is targeting them is horrendous and transphobia shouldn't even exist so I take this time to reflect on how I can raise awareness and consciousness with my community and those who don't feel concerned. We live in a world where it's easy to hate one another instead of educate, learn, love and bring some light especially in these darkest times. I will always stand up for what is right and never turn out a blind eye on the cruelty that are facing Trans people on a daily basis. Being dehumanised for being who you are is the worst thing ever to feel and it reminds you that we have a long way to go. I couldn't be there if it wasn't because of Trans women who literally paved the way for the LGBTQ community and rights we're fighting for still today.
