I am from a family of refugees; my grandmother crossed a frozen river from North Korea to freedom and came to the United States as a single mother with my mom. She dodged gunfire to survive and crossed oceans to find opportunity.

The strong women who allowed me to live in the land of opportunity couldn’t physically be with me in the interview room, but their resilience allowed me to speak on my advocacy, family, and career.

It was an honor to speak to the Mrs. America judges. Thank you to everyone who helped me; I felt confident, beautiful, and filled to the brim with gratitude.
