“THE LEGACY CONTINUES, THE STANDARD STILL STANDS.”

DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. Hailing from Miami, Florida, Makhii D. Fleming is continuing a tradition of leadership that began long before arriving in Wildcat Country. Having first stepped into campus royalty as Mr. Sophomore in high school, Fleming was elected by his peers in the B-CU Class of 2029 to serve as Mister Sophomore at Bethune-Cookman University.

An Elementary Education major, Makhii holds a clear vision for the future: owning and operating his own elementary school to inspire, nurture, and empower the next generation of young scholars.
His campus impact spans academics, athletics, and student mentorship:
• Royal Court: Serves as Mister Sophomore, representing the Class of 2029 and building unity across campus.
• Future Educator & Mentor: Serves as a Teacher Assistant, actively supporting students and educators throughout the school day.
• Student-Athlete: Represents B-CU on the track & field team, balancing athletic discipline with academic achievement.

BUILDING THE FUTURE
For Makhii, serving on the Royal Court is about leading by example and creating lasting pathways for those coming behind him:
• Educational Empowerment: Working directly in classrooms to impact young minds early.
• Athletic & Academic Balance: Demonstrating dedication both on the track and in the classroom.
• Sustaining the Standard: Honoring his high school roots while expanding his footprint as Mister Sophomore at Bethune-Cookman University.

THE STANDARD STILL STANDS. Join us in celebrating Mister Sophomore Makhii D. Fleming as he builds a foundation for future generations at Bethune-Cookman University!

Because of those who came before us, we walk through doors they fought to open. Progress has never been linear, and while oppression adapts, so does our strength, our voice, and our resolve.

Strong, resilient, intelligent, faithful, proud, and ✨black✨

Happy Juneteenth!!🤎
