Year 2 with the RHS front ensemble in the books!

It’s truly such a blessing to have the opportunity to work with this amazing group of young musicians. They’ve worked so hard over the season, and their growth as not only musicians, but also as young adults is so inspiring. I could not be more proud of everything they’ve accomplished this season.

At the same time, I’m incredibly appreciative of the experience I get to acquire as a young educator. The awesome staff here have a gold mine of years of experience that I am always absorbing and stealing from. The students are also amazing learners and teach me more about myself as an educator, musician, and human being every day.

Teaching these kids have been a huge highlight every week during this grueling semester. Looking forward to rehearsals and comps definitely got me through some of these hard weeks. I couldn’t be more thankful to them for giving their time and energy to pursue the marching arts, and keeping the love of music alive and well.

Maybe one day they’ll fix their beating spots…

I truly don’t know who I would be without this program. I’m so so grateful for the countless memories and moments I’ve shared with so many amazing people. Through all the hours, weeks, and months of work and pain, I still managed to find so much comfort and joy with the people around me. You all are my entire world and I’m so grateful for all the new connections I’ve made with every single one of you.

To my techs and my section, all of you are so extremely special to me and I really couldn’t ask for more. You’ve all been there for me no matter what—from days where I was mentally struggling to days where it was all just giggles and shits. You all helped me get through so much both physically and mentally and I’m so extremely grateful for that. From percussion camp, to EIU, and to where we are now, I’m so proud of all our hard work and how much we’ve grown over this season. Although these past few months were full of many hardships and struggles, I’m happy that I went through it all with you guys. I love you all so much and this line definitely will have a special place in my heart. :)

yet another beautiful page being written in the just as lovely book, brought to you by the music program! here goes...

there isn't really much to say about the band concert. every concert is real good and more than well and dandy. the real star of the night was the tiktok viral boy dominic. the second, lesser star of the night was anthony's nasty bazookie he created at mcdonald's. other things on the agenda before and after were several compasses we spent practicing for a point i'll circle back upon and just rocking out like a couple beautiful white boys after school today.

circle back! tonight, i, among three other lovelies, helped open up the choir concert on a song with a dinkly percussion parts. if you were there, i'm sure you could hardly behold our beautiful work. in the band room, we spent our time playing fuzzled up keyboard songs and being nuisances to all those around. in the audience, we enjoyed the show, worked the cameras, and were nuisances to all those around again. once more, at culver's, we enjoyed our own meals and were very pleasant to those all around.

aaaaand that's actually all, if you'd believe it. a lovely filler-y wrap to the six post cycle tomorrow, and some nice things on the agenda next week. all around good vibes on the radar. naughts and crosses as per usual to the very few and inbetween post readers.

hello! long post cycle but we are back to attack and stuff...

two saturdays ago, me and stella went out to the fox valley mall to walk around and grab some stuff. before we got there, though, we went to an antique store right next to it and got some shirts and i got stamps for tapes. we ended up leaving to drive all the way over the bridge to pick up a very sleepy [b]lud to check out savers and turn around to return both friends to their respective homes.

the following tuesday, me and a gaggle of goofs set out to go skate at family fun zone. we spent maybe half an hour actually skating before we got off the rink and checked out the arcade. we played a bunch of mario kart and skeeball and i got a round in on jurassic park. afterwards, we hit mcdonalds where i just had a drink and ethan purchased a meal with his mcdonald points. while he ordered a six piece mcnugget, he only got four, and me, dylan, and liam went up to right this wrong for him. after complaining all the way through, he got his two extra nuggets and a straw he was missing. and tis all.

this first week back at school has been awful snowy, despite everyone's wishes, which meant plenty of time de-snowing our windshields. on monday, ethan hitched a ride from me, so i had him wipe the snow off of my car. the following two days, while b rehearsed for mads (which i believe is ending tonight), we wiped off their car because we are kindred spirits. thursday, we did another kind deed for them, which was procure jimmy john's since they didn't have much to eat during the day. oh, they were so surprised by that beautiful cookie they got...

still that day, me and stella grabbed 7brew and headed out to the homer library to study. little did we know/remember, santa paid us library goers a visit. while we didn't get photos with him, we got photos with rudolph and susie the elf and spun the wheel of fun prizes. afterwards, we rushed over the bridge to go to the louis joliet mall and had the worst chinese food ever, walked around the mall, and saw the lovely fnaf 2 movie with some late gang members.

and we played with bob and we bandies recorded with the four track tonight and good wishes and xoxoxoxoxooooooooo!

oh, no, you don't believe it, i say that i've got a lovely post for youuuuuu!

usual proceedings as usual as they usually get. last week, me, brayden, and b started the most beautiful improvisational living room folk band. anthony saved a life. no biggies there.

biggie here, though: leah's short film, in which i'm grateful to take part in helping with, has officially wrapped up the majority of filming. we went to central this sunday and spent 1pm to around 6pm running through lines and filming and goofing off. in fact, aside from the score and the additional editing i may do, you may catch me up on the big screen...? more to come when the film is being premiered around late january or early february. and, yes, the rumors are true, we did stop to get the best noodles and company ever afterwards. people keep asking and i just want to confirm.

some more usual proceedings aside from... sniffle... stella who doesn't have the gram no more... and dominic showing us the piercings he may get in the future? who know what he's going to get up to during his college years...

real short writing this post since there's really not much to report on. i kind of have to get this one out anyways because i have a zillion filler photos and i can't keep holding onto these pictures when there's a pattern to keep. i bid you some wonderful x's and o's. a bountiful amount, even.

as i forecasted in the previous post, here's the next big cumulative post!

janice's lovely, lowkey halloween party on friday were those two descriptive words i just used. it was a good, grand old blast with friends and a nice reason to stay out past 12am. i also ran over to ethan's halloween get together where i met jonesy and sung some karaoke with the elusive joker. i blasted right on home afterwards so i didn't rem rebound while i drove (those who know...)

saturday, me and stella hung out to watch the very aptly titled midsommar. i remember it being so much better than it really was, which is fine because it isn't even ari aster's second best, unlike what letterboxd will tell you. we drove up to orland square to walk around for a little bit and to grab food. stella had her first baja blast and i had my first baja blast in a minute, which cost three bucks for zero reason whatsoever...

the following day was sunday, which was rehearsal day. we learned one of my songs a bit better and we tried to record it. ethan's part and my parts were fine to record, but then when it came to cj's part (which at this point, ethan and gavin had already left), everything started falling apart and i started to feel super miserable trying to record/arrange stuff for this measly little song. i forgot how much actually recording stuff blew, and i so dearly miss my nine months dead four-track. whatever. i'm hoping to call deltronics and see if they'll be able to get it back before christmas, otherwise i'm gonna try for a refund and get a refurbished four-track that will work.

another post in the books i suppose. this week will maybe be fruitful so hurray on that front. aaaand yup xoxoxo

hurray! week post! not much to write so it might be a light read...

the night of the incident... me and stella were hanging out, watching fantastic mr. fox in her basement before b was freed up to hang with us. once b arrived to the residence, we watched a slushy noobz video before running around the basement and playing super ball. we then ran out to get icees and drove over to a lovely park, where we did parkour and took hecka photos. stella was also making record times running around the car before we decided to drive around and eventually park by nicky's gyros. then, the incident... stella chipped her tooth and there was blood and stuff, but now she's all better! all good!

the following day, we went to crappy siegel's and went to the corn maze. spent way too much time in there for my liking. we had to rush through all the attractions, getting apple cider and apple cider donuts on the way. we also saw me and jacqui's sophomore year english teacher, mrs. stubblefield, who we love and adore. not pictured here because i used up all the good pictures on a seperate post, we + stella and liam rusniak went to the superior and slightly-cheaper-on-the-day-we-went bengtson's, which was a joy and a blast.

jacqui had boiled eggs one day during compass. probably the first time boiled eggs were consumed in that room in particular. just thought it was pretty exciting. love boiled eggs. then, finally, on thursday, we saw putnam county spelling bee, which was super freaking good. out of the four-ish maybe musicals i've seen/heard in my life, it was probably the best one.

i'm sure this is probably pretty illegible because all this stuff happened a week ago and my writing becomes rambly when it isn't as fresh, but i hope it was legible enough for you to enjoy. xoxoxo another post probably soon xoxo

hello nears and dears, here comes the newest installment of twenty photos from the past week!

sunday of last week, we started trying to record music. we actually got some pretty decent results, but there's still some work to be done. it was the same day afterwards when i went to ethan's to join the big spooky cold hangout where we chased eachother in the woods and drove to spooky music. the following day was another monday short film meet, which had me and leah grabbing some 'brew (new thing?) and me driving her home. and yes, i got that blondie to enjoy.

tuesday was b's awesome choir concert, which me and stella enjoyed dearly. they sang a song that we sang from my richland choir days which was pretty lit and pretty full circle-y. we got some mickey d's afterwards. tuesday was also my first texas of the season, which was really exciting for me because that's the single best article of clothing i own.

wednesday was the day that i absolutely decimated b's backpack, with some additional help from ethan. that was french honors society day, but also the day me and stella studied and got most of our ap psych vocab done, but i didn't get pictures that evening. thursday was the day that i realized that, hey, maybe i really am a hat person. but i can't start wearing hats yet because i'd look like a hat poser, iykwim. i'll soft launch it eventually. also that same day, me and ethan delivered a zillion bags of plastic bags to recycle to jewel osco-- not before loitering after school, talking to b and stella. very fun days.

friday was the big gig day, which had us coming after school to help set up (though i have to give credit to cj's friends since they really did the brunt of the work needed). the show was pretty decent, with some occasional hiccups here and there, but everyone seemed to enjoy it anyhow. we got cane's afterwards, which i never knew i so dearly needed. we loitered there for an hour or so before i got really tired, so we loitered there an extra thirty minutes or so. then i drove ethan home.

and that's the week! what comes next? a filler post? pictures from before the incident? time will tell. until then, xoxoxo.
