A Chill-Out Room Revival

Beacon of Light takes over Better Tomorrow Studio on November 21 for its biggest activation yet. 
From 10pm to 6am, the space will become a late night chill out room inspired by the spaces that once existed alongside the main rooms of raves and clubs. Places where the music could stretch out, DJs could follow unexpected ideas, and people could sit, lie down, sway, dance, talk, listen and stay for a while. 
For this one, the lineup feels especially connected to that spirit. 
@space.time.continuum , the artist behind Spacetime Continuum, joins for a DJ set. Jonah was there when chill out culture was first taking shape, from the original Spacetime parties in early 90s London to decades spent exploring the outer edges of electronic music in San Francisco. His work has always moved freely between the dance floor and the spaces around it. 
@lovefingers has built a musical world around curiosity, discovery and deep digging. From lovefingers.org to @esp_institute , his approach has always been less about fitting into a particular sound and more about finding unexpected records and unlikely connections. 
@thomfelixthedog has been part of San Francisco’s underground since the 90s, including the Black Diamond and Eklektic parties, with a history rooted in rooms where different sounds, scenes and people could all coexist. 
Resident Chillers @tottie_lottiee and @dorwand will be holding down the Beacon of Light side. 
@bettertomorrowstudio will be covered in rugs, with room to stretch out, move around and settle in, plus a full light activation by @b_c_z and @laserguise that will evolve through the night. 
This is the biggest Beacon of Light night so far, and the closest the project has come to giving the chill out room an entire night of its own. 
Come early, stay late, lie down for a while, get back up and dance, hear something unexpected and see where the night goes.

Capacity is limited, so getting yours early is a good move.

Hey world,

Exciting new month ahead as I keep working on another album to eventually share with the world.

I’ve also been thinking a lot about how vital music and dance music culture are to my life. Since I was a teenager, they’ve been one of the few things that have stayed constant through all the different versions of me. Most of my closest friendships, communities and connections around the world can somehow be traced back to music.

Maybe that’s part of why I’m so excited to come back to San Francisco this month for a little mini tour.

I’ll be playing a hybrid @beaconxlight session at @thebatterysf , spending an afternoon playing downtempo vibers at @vinyldreamssf , easily one of my favorite places in SF and one of my favorite record stores anywhere, and closing things out on Sunday morning at @hedgecoffee with some uplifting chillers from my record collection.

In a funny way, this trip almost feels like my first time coming back to SF as the person I am now. I’m really looking forward to being there, reconnecting with the city and seeing so many familiar faces.

Before all of that, I’m back on @dublab today from 4 to 6pm for another Open Heart Social Club, digging into some recent promos, purchases and discoveries alongside a handful of old favorites.

Life has felt a little strange lately, and I’ve been finding myself returning to music as a place to slow down and reconnect.

This Friday I’ll be bringing my live set to the Skirball Cultural Center as part of A Palace in Time, the exhibition by @robertrussellworks and @lisaedelstein exploring memory, ritual, joy, loss, and the moments that make up a life.

I’ll be playing in a cute shaded courtyard so you can all stay cool, sharing music from Alchemy of Being and continuing to explore this live practice that has slowly been taking shape over the past few months.

It feels particularly meaningful to bring this music into a space thinking about time, memory, and the rituals that hold us.

Hey lovers! It’s been a hot summer and a little while since I last shared my journey with the world.

As I move towards embracing my artistry and leaning deeper into my creativity, I can’t help but see how much life has been preparing me for this moment.

Between working on new music and focusing on launching my incense company, there hasn’t been a dull moment. And while I can’t say it’s been an easy journey, learning to move through my fears, insecurities and resistance has been a rewarding part of the process. I’m slowly learning that sometimes the things standing in our way are also showing us where there’s room to grow.

I’m really excited to be back home at @dublab today for another Open Heart Social Club from 4 to 6pm PDT, sharing some of the music that has soundtracked this past month, kept me inspired and accompanied me through all of these changes.

There’s a lot taking shape right now and I’m excited to share more as it unfolds.

Wishing us all a blissful weekend, and a little courage to keep following whatever is calling us.

Next up on the Citrus Zone lineup is Beacon of Light, the new collaborative project from Dor Wand and TOTTIE.

The project feels like exactly what the name suggests. Thoughtful sounds from two people who genuinely care about how music makes a room feel.

Between their respective dublab residencies, TOTTIE’s work with SOS Music alongside Maddy Maia, and Dor’s debut album Alchemy of Being on Multi Culti, both have spent years championing music with intention. The deeper you dig, the more obvious it becomes that these are people who care about the people in the room as much as the records themselves.
