Each year we host a career fair to promote Kentucky’s signature industries: equine, distilling and agribusiness. This year’s fair will take place Oct. 1 from 2-5 p.m. at the University of Kentucky Gatton Student Center Ballrooms.

Registration is open for employers and job seekers via Handshake. The fair is open to all job-seekers, not UK students exclusively. Last year, over 400 participants representing 76 UK majors, 12 UK colleges and 12 external universities attended the fair.

“Having the unique opportunity to partner with the Beam Institute and re-design this event as the Signature Industries Career Fair has given it a new life for our students,” said Savannah Robin. “Last year’s addition of agribusiness really helped to elevate both the excitement around the event and the growth. We are excited to continue growing and providing our students with opportunities to connect with employers and industry leaders.” Graphic on a navy background promoting the Kentucky Signature Industries Agribusiness, Distillation and Equine Career Fair on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Gatton Student Center Ballrooms.

What if your sake kasu is more than a byproduct?

At the 2025 American Craft Sake Fest, Benjamin Lin of the Jim Beam Institute and Justin LeVaughn of Void Sake Co. presented a two-part session on kasu-tori shochu and academic-industry collaboration.

Benjamin shared research on re-fermenting and distilling sake lees, including how variables like temperature, yeast, and enzyme concentration can affect ethanol yield and flavor. Justin then walked through how brewers can build meaningful partnerships with researchers and turn practical production questions into real applied research.

Missed last year’s Industry Day seminars at @craftsakefest ? Or want to revisit the session?

Comment SHOCHU and we’ll send the seminar audio + slides to your DMs.

And don’t wait to catch this year’s seminars after the fact.

VIP tickets for American Craft Sake Fest 2026 get you access to this year’s Industry Day seminars in Los Angeles, plus early festival access, a private Sawtelle Sake tour, premium food-and-sake pairing, a private Secrets of Sake screening, and more.

The University of Kentucky's @beam_uky recently partnered with @ballindallochdistillery on an international research project focused on marketing estate whiskey across global audiences.

After visiting Ballindalloch in Speyside, Scotland, the students presented their research and recommendations in Edinburgh, giving them the opportunity to apply their work to a real-world challenge while providing valuable insights to the distillery.

This partnership demonstrates how the Estate Whiskey Alliance can foster collaboration that benefits both our members and the next generation of whiskey professionals.

What we're doing is more than certification, it about creating opportunities that bring the whiskey industry and academic research together.

Thank you to @ballindallochdistillery, @beam_uky and the students who made this project a success.

Day 57 | 3 Days to Retirement
60 Days. 60 Bottles. One Legacy.

Pour: Booker’s Donohoe’s Batch 2021-01

There comes a point when you stop softening the edges of who you are.

Not because you are trying to be difficult.

But because you finally understand that strength does not need to be diluted to be worthy of the room.

With three days left until retirement, I am thinking about all the years I spent carrying responsibility, managing expectations, reading the room, and making the hard things look easier than they were.

That season taught me discipline.

But this next one is asking for something different.

Presence without apology.
Voice without permission.
Power without proofing down.

Three days left.

And I am not making myself easier to pour.
