Hey, look at me! 📸 Justin just sent over these photos he took of us on film, and they turned out so perfect, thanks Justin @beamish.draws for capturing these candid moments!
Swipe to see me and my neighbor Ann @afu.arts just having fun and enjoying the moment while painting our barriers and Justing also help me paint a bit one of my barriers for the @yycbump - BUMP Road Works Program back in May 2026. 🚧✨ Painting with great neighbors makes the work feel like pure play!

Please welcome these 9 fantastic artists to the 2026 ROAD WORKS program. This year 17 artists will be hitting the ground and bringing to life our jersey barriers.

Working across a functional and temporary medium, this year’s artists approach the barrier as a place of new ideas and possibility, a cement surface where experimentation unfolds in public.

Artists featured in this carousel are:

@rylixrt
@randmcollective
@northerndlite
@beamish.draws
@jiwoo.ookim
@afu.arts
@artbyemmaguido
@muralycreations
@cloud.dog.yyc

See you all out there in the sun! (and rain… and snow, who knows?!)

!! ROAD WORKS 2026 IS HERE !!

Meet the new group of artists transforming Calgary’s streets into something stranger and more playful.

Across this year’s barriers, you’ll find artists whose worlds move between the surreal and the familiar, who discover new forms of wildlife through their art, create mysterious and eccentric figures, and form environments where the built and natural collapse into each other. These 17 local artists speak in visual languages that oscillate between precision and instinct, bringing to BUMP dreamlike landscapes, cartoon logics, fragmented narratives, and bold systems of pattern and colour that feel both intuitive and meticulously constructed. The 2026 Road Works cohort are:

WÂPOSHPYII / Ling Ho / Jiwoo Kim / Kip Monaghan / Sasha Terway / Claire Coutts / Rylie Landry / Sylvia Arthur / Emma Guido / Mike Kerr / Katherin Leivikov / Aly Tucker / Strom / Chris Lukas / Maier / Maya Corona / Ann Fu / Justin Beamish

Now in its 6th year with the City of Calgary, Road Works continues to platform emerging and established artists across the city through a medium that is functional, temporary, and for the public. In 2021 this began as a response to our shifting urban space and now has grown into a living archive where over 100 artists and 300+ barriers have been reimagined as sites of experimentation and possibility.

We’re excited to jump into these small portals created on jersey barriers that will soon be scattered across the city.

Last night was so fun hanging out with the AUA crew @faithandartscollective and talking about Becoming like Jesus, the Artisan! So many good truths coming out of our discussions on being creatives, being called to our craft, and how we all embody God’s creativity as His Imago Dei! Also, check out these tats @justin.beamish just drew during the conversations! Bless! Stay tuned and join us for the Convergence as we seek to Become like Jesus, the Artisan!
