I’m just getting started but there have been successes, failures and some really good lessons. To the girl starting out, pull up a chair let’s chat…

There’s a lot to be said about slotting into a practice, working under someone and many of us do variations of it when we start, but you can also go it alone. You don’t have to have all the answers at the outset.

Moving practices taught me that where you work matters, but how you and your patients feel when they’re there matters even more.
Trust, communication and making someone feel heard are just as much a part of the treatment as the prescription.

Build a space that you want to work in and others will enjoy being there too!

Medicine is plagued by what the road should look like, by expectations but in reality so long as you are ethical and honest you can colour outside the typical lines and make the career that you want it to be.

Starting Beam taught me that sometimes little twinkles do need to be chased.
You can take what you know, see a gap, and build something better even when you’re figuring it out as you go.

2 babies in 2 years that have grown with me in these 5 years and they are forever my biggest “Why”

I am acutely aware of the time this part of me takes away from them, but also that they are always watching and I hope they see the benefit of sacrifice, hard work and learn to believe in and chase dreams with all you’ve got.

So what’s my 5 year plan, I’ll keep that one a little closer to my chest this time round 🫣

Sometimes the business you’re meant to start is the one you can’t stop dreaming about.

@beamskin.za began with a simple belief: if we help young people build confidence in their skin, we help them shine a little brighter everywhere else too.

Youth Day feels like the perfect day to share why Beam exists.

Some of my favourite patients have always been tweens and teens; navigating that messy middle between childhood and adulthood.

Over the years, they inspired countless conversations, ideas and questions about what they liked, what they wanted for consults and what made them feel special and skincare could look like if it were created specifically for them.

Beam started as one of those ideas we simply couldn’t stop thinking about.

Today I’m grateful for every young person who has trusted me with their skin, challenged my thinking and inspired us to build something different.

POV: your girly girl daughter comes home from sport looking absolutely finished 😂🏑

We’re still working on the “stop wiping your sweaty face with dirty hands” habit… but at least she LOVES her little skincare routine. Shower, cleanse, moisturise… and suddenly life feels good again 🤍

I love that she’s learning these habits young - and making it a whole girly moment too.
