Just my girls picking strawberries while I follow them around with a camera. 🍓

Lomochrome Purple made the whole afternoon look a little more magical than it already was.

A few more shots on LomoChrome Purple.

This was from an executive protection training with @GBRSGroup and @ShivWorks.

If I remember correctly, I think the students were providing security for the guy who invented dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets. So obviously the stakes were pretty high.

I brought my film camera along and shot throughout the training. I had no idea how LomoChrome Purple would look in this environment, which was honestly part of the reason I wanted to shoot it.

Definitely not the usual look for firearms training, but I really dig how these turned out.

Which one is your favorite?

So… which one did I print?

Part two of my black-and-white film workshop with @littlelightfilmlab.

After shooting the roll, it was time to head into the darkroom—develop the film, hang the negatives, pick a frame and turn it into an actual print.

I scan all of my film at home, so I’m used to seeing my photographs come to life on a screen. But there is something completely different about going through the process yourself and ending up with a physical print that you made with your own hands.

And after having to rush through this roll, I was pretty damn happy to have a frame I liked enough to put on paper.

Swipe through to see the process, the print I chose, and the clean scan of the final image.

Did I pick the same one you would have?

I recently took a black-and-white film workshop through @littlelightfilmlab

The assignment was simple: load a roll of Kentmere 100, walk the surrounding neighborhood in Newport News, and make photographs. Back in the darkroom we’d develop our negatives and make a print from one of our favorite frames.

Well... I made one of the oldest mistakes in film photography.

I didn’t load my film correctly.

After spending the morning shooting, we got back to the lab only to discover the film had never advanced. Every frame I thought I had made was gone. I was pretty disappointed because there were a few images I was really excited about.

So I loaded another roll, headed back out on my own, and tried again.

These are the photographs from that second walk.

Looking back, I’m actually really happy with these frames, especially considering I was racing the clock. If anything, the experience may have helped me get over being so precious about pressing the shutter. Instead of waiting for the “perfect” moment, I trusted my instincts and kept shooting.

Funny how one mistake can end up teaching you more than a perfect roll ever could.

Which frame is your favorite?
Stay tuned to see if it was the same one I chose to print in the darkroom.
