The year was 2016—ten years ago. We had been together just over a year, yet we were already building something far bigger than either of us could have imagined. 2016 was one of those super-charged years—the kind that quietly defines the chapters that follow. We relaunched our real estate and property management company with momentum and conviction. At the time, we were doing it all: selling homes, managing homes, selling apartment buildings, and laying the foundation for what would become Kentucky’s fastest-growing property management company—later acquired by the fastest-growing PM company in the U.S. It was Heath’s first year serving as director for a local Miss Kentucky preliminary. We traveled to beautiful destinations with a carefree spirit, remodeled an office space that felt like possibility in physical form, and were still blessed with Dakota and Baron—never knowing then how limited our time with them would be. This was also the year we began buying antiques together, unknowingly planting the seeds for what would one day become a defining part of our life and brand. We hosted client events (yes, including Heath in the bunny costume), shot video content with some of the best in the business @beardhousemedia , and celebrated one of our most beloved Kentucky traditions—the Kentucky Derby. Looking back, 2016 wasn’t just busy or exciting. It was formative. It was bold. It was the beginning of a life built on vision, partnership, and saying yes before we had all the answers. Some years don’t just pass—they shape you. And 2016 was one of those years.
