I’ve been laboring over this album for a little over 3 years & there were moments I was unsure this would even see the light of day of I’ll be real with you. I thought I didn’t resonate with these songs at one point. I think that self-consciousness came from life lifing in 2025, but 2026 has been very enlightening and a getting back on track. Thank you to Messiah Musik for being a genuine human being on top of producing some of the illest rap songs on planet earth. To @cunabear + Beartooth for being a true rag tag group of found family who stand on their morals and authenticity, no matter what. To @shemar.alexander for the countless phone calls and texts back and forth about this album and its mixes, helping me hold my imposter syndrome at a minimum when I needed hope + helping me become a engineer and artist in the long run. To @microsedose / @cvsketgirl for being with me through a bulk of this albums creation— probably the most grueling creation process I’ve had. This album is about coping with the fact that I graduated to a world that doesn’t care for the writers, ecstatics, and the “real weirdos” (word to @rhyslangston on that last one). There’s a lot of molting in molten, and genuinely this album is basically an audio interpretation of me going through a hell, where I’m being burnt alive and by the end of it, I’m found with “nerves over my eyes and veins over my skin” (word to Lamantia), though still alive and through the worst of it. This is technically my 3rd album in the span of my like 20 something projects I’ve created, alongside “Scabbed Over Stars On My Ex-Haired Chest” (2020) + “WON’T HIDE THE MADNESS” (2021), and if I look at the bigger picture, this is a trilogy of albums in a lot of ways. The Only Way Forward is Through by jouquin fox & Messiah Musik coming November, 17th, 2026. While I’ve dropped well over 10 mixtapes, EPs and collaborative projects from 2021’s album, “WON’T HIDE THE MADNESS” until now, I have never considered any of them albums of mine. When I determine what projects are going to be actual albums, there’s a quality I’m searching for, and I only know when they’re done, when they’re finished. My first album was called “Scabbed over stars on my ex-haired chest” in 2020, which I was working on for about 2 years or so. I think that’s free on Bandcamp now! My second album was the aforementioned “WON’T HIDE THE MADNESS”— where “Scabbed over stars” became my first album because it was the first full length anything I’d conjured up, sounding consistent enough and containing some first time collaborations with people i am still friends with, “MADNESS” was started and finished with quality in mind. Even though I’m not the same me as when I made that album, I’ve listened back and it’s still a shining gem amongst almost 10 years of self-expression. “The Only Way Forward is Through,” began as my next album, a universe restart for my music, and a way to push myself from the beginning, in February of 2023. Like I’ve said before @bloodmoneyperez sent me the first pack of Messiah beats and the rest is history. Messiah Musik was/is one of my favorite producers since I heard ROME and Today, I Wrote Nothing by Armand Hammer and billy woods respectively. When I started making this, I made a comprehensive playlist of every Messiah produced song and wanted to carve out a space for my style, I could hear lived in this underground rap universe I’ve been in love with since a kid, but also a space I could truly call my own. I hope you’ve been enjoying the singles. Pre orders, cover art, tracklist on Monday. Early listens being sent to journalists + select homies and fans this weekend. @hzharoual took the OG pic this flyer was made from. A variation will also be on a shirt. Surprise! @sheldonaintcool and I just dropped an EP together (link in bio) Normally sheldon is mostly found next to a canvas doing live art at events, or at his booth where he sells shirts, hats, and prints… or he’s in his studio, at home, out in the city working on a new piece.. or, he’s found at galleries, showing off his work. I’ve known sheldon for a few years now and he became one of my favorite local artists very quickly. His freeform, abstract approach to visual art mirrors my writing process and flows. The colors he chooses are both vibrant and earthy at times. He sometimes incorporates collage or graffiti elements too— go check out his work on his page or at his website sheldonaintcool.com But rest assured, dude is super cool AND kind. Back in July, to my surprise, he sent me an untitled link filled with beats he produced and was going to play at his art show in September @mulberry.gallery.ict , also wanting to know if I would hop on a song. I didn’t know he made music, and immediately got excited. I ended up writing 6 songs the last weekend of July and recorded them the following Monday I think. I hope you’ve been enjoying the first two singles to @messiah_musik and I new album, “The Only Way Forward is Through” out this fall. We’ve been working on this album since February 2023, right after the release of my project “THE LOVE GARDEN ZENDO.” @bloodmoneyperez texted me about a week after I dropped that mixtape with praises, and asked if I’d want to connect w Messiah Musik and make an album for his label. This project and my friendship w Messiah would never have happened had it not been for Bloodmoney and the relationship they had already had. I will forever be grateful to Bloodmoney for giving me this opportunity to get to know one of my favorite producers of all time. Right before I dropped LOVE GARDEN, I was at one of those crossroads where I didn’t really know what direction I wanted to go musically. I wanted to take a break from multi producer projects, and told myself if I did another full length anything, it would have to be w a bucket list producer. It’s a weird moment that I’m still coming to terms with. This project represents so much I’ll get into later, but these two songs themselves represent two of the early breakthrough moments that got me in the flow this album sits in. Shoutout @logandotjpg for helping me put the finishing touches on everything and @beartoothcollective for always holding me down. The homie @mizerin.noise from @shadedcastle is printing up my design for me, only black on white for now, and only for 2 weeks. I’ll be adding lyrics to the Bandcamp description later this week, and the songs will be everywhere but Spotify in 2 weeks as well. I have some more surprises in store before we drop the tracklist, cover art, and release date on you.
