‼️ Project Update ‼️ @beathanhalbertphotography project was the first one we featured on our page, way back in February! Take a look at how it’s evolved over the months 👆🏼👇🏼 “Oh for her eighteenth, she’s getting lip fillers”
“Oh for her eighteenth, she’s getting nose surgery”
“Oh for her eighteenth, she’s getting botox in her jaw”
‘Jane Does’ was inspired after Beathen overheard those statements from a
seventeen-year-old about when discussing what her friends were going to get
for their eighteenth birthdays.

Beathen became fascinated as to why 17-year-old girls were asking for semi-permanent medical procedures for their birthdays. To investigate why
this was happening, she spent a month on Instagram looking at what was influencing these girls to change their faces at such a young age.
As she researched, Beathen began to realise that every the face of every influencer was indistinguishable from the next. Each of them had almost identical features. In their attempt to make themselves stand out among the masses on social media, they have instead become a homogeneous clone.
The title of this project - Jane Does - comes from this. No one is truly an individual anymore, instead, all their faces have begun to blend together.
A Jane Doe is defined as the hypothetical average women, and to be average now it requires fillers, botox and surgery. This project aims to poke fun at
trends on social media, and how this influencer culture has altered the way we look and the way we eat. Plastic surgery is on the high street and clean eating has become a restaurant chain.
